Oda has stated that those who chase their dreams become more conventionally attractive, hence why Helmepo and Koby become so cool so fast. They're actively chasing their dreams. When Kaidou wipes Moria's crew he stops chasing his dreams and becomes "ugly"

Morias zombies aren't immune in the absence of sunlight. They are shown literally in the sun in the clip shown. Their weakness is salt the people who had their shadows taken burn in the light.

I've always really liked moria his df is one of my favorites as well as that I think perona and the entire arc are a little underrated

From the outside looking in, Gecko Moria & Big Mom seem like the two biggest examples of Oda's philosophy of making people's physical appearance change depending on whether or not they follow their dreams. Both of them seem to have given up on their dreams, and they go from being very conventionally attractive to the immense, languid creatures who have become sedentary to the point of their unwillingness to pursue their goals becoming an almost physical road block for them.

Legit Moria is my favorite character in the show. Its true he is not tradionally cool like Doffy or Katakuri but his Fruit is Busted and he is really loyal to those he cares about. Not only that but being the captain of the biggest ship in the OP world has to count for something and while he hasnt won agaisnt the Yonko he has fought he wont back down agaisnt those that wrong him or his crew, I think thats capability for Conquerors. Boa said it best : "They made us warlords because we are strong" and Moria definetely is.

I agree, I always appreciated this chatacter and I'm glad someone point out his value.

Now that I think of it, I actually have many points in common with this character. I lost a lot of people and even things during covid which turned me into a shadow of who I once was. I used to chase my dream of making a comic book and I was on a good way, people really supported me. Than I became lazy and I pushed everyone away from me for these reasons.

Jeez I was a fan of Moria because I love vampires and necromancy but now I realize how much I'm so like him years later I first saw this character.

Moria, Perona, and basically everything to do with Thriller Bark that isn't a living lion man are some of my favorite things in the series. One of the coolest settings, some of the coolest devil fruits (and the clear fruit which is okay i guess?), and a surprisingly intense final battle with a backstory a lot more tragic then you'd guess.

He’s one of my favorite one piece. He never wants to suffer loss again. Moria probably cherished his crew like Luffy does. And them losing their lives absolutely broke Moria. He never wants to relive that pain. And that’s what I like about him. Because if I was in his shoes, I might do teh same thing he did. Use the df to have an immortal crew. Sure they aren’t the strongest, but they cant die. So I wouldn’t have to relive the pin again

Imagine if Luffy could convert Moria and add him to the crew. And then Moria started getting in shape again and using Haki. Would be an excellent addition.
