2002 here - had the same idea and wondered if it was as simple as swapping the rests or swapping the covers. Great to find this.

Great work on the arm rests. For that 3rd brake light I replaced mine ('04 Highlander) with an LED one you can buy at Walmart.

I just got arm rest sleeves delivered and I took the arm rests off but didn't put it back on correctly. Thanks for the video. I will fix it tomorrow.

are these aftermarket "leather" cover-sleeves that have been installed over the original cloth/velour armrests on the donor/scrap vehicle? I want to swap my Passenger for Driver and flip over but my '03 leather ltd does not have the zipper opening in the rear. is it possible to 'skin' the oem armrests or am i better off installing covers OVER the original, but cracked up, leather armrests? does that make sense?
