This works for all clubs and all shots!

The idea here is to get rid of the “slack” in the arms and wrists at setup - the drill is to start by first setting up as though the ground is the top of the ball then lower the club so it’s barely touching the top of the grass - don’t let it fully sit on the ground!

You might hit a few thin to begin with but once you get the hang of the feel I guarantee your game will be better than it was before 🤘🏽

Note: Eventually you don’t have to look like a 🤡 putting your club on the top of the ball you’ll dial in the feel 🤘🏽

The more I play rounds and hit the range the more I realize that golf is different for everyone. We all have different flexibility, muscle mass, limitations, rotation power etc but more importantly different stressors on the CNS and its capacity to learn.

The most important aspect of the game is consistency. If you can develop a swing that works for you and break 90 then you are well on your way. The only thing that matters is how the club face contacts the ball and there are millions of ways to get there. What works for some may not work for another.

You will get into trouble faster the more you analyze your swing and try to do something other than what your natural planar motion is.

One thing we can all agree on is we all start at the same place and that is terrible 😄

So many swing reactions start with setup, alignment, ball position, grip… at rest, muscles and tendons have some tension - your arms are not fully straight, but have a slight bend. During the swing, at impact, the arms are stretched taut with the hands (hence, club, hence, club head) closer to the ball… combine this with his “4:30 downswing” feel results in scheffler-like ball striking…

Ok, that increased my score because I touched the ball before swinging the club

I just figured this kinda concept out today. If you guys are having trouble understanding what he means, my take is that instead of setting his body to hit with the club on the ground, he sets it a little higher up and then lowers/stretches his arms down to get the club right on top of the ground. I was at the range today and figured out that if I stand up more straight and stretched my arms down a little more then I could hit so much farther, and with so much more confidence that I wouldn’t chunk as long as I didn’t drop my hips/torso, whatever. Didn’t seem to work as well for chip shots and I still prefer my original set up but this felt like a complete game changer and I can’t wait to hit more balls like that

I’m ngl golf is so different for everybody the only real way to get better is to just find your rhythm and try to repeat the same tempo repeatedly until it becomes muscle memory. I like to think about like writing a signature, there all unique and have their own cadence like a golf swing

Instructions unclear, I bladed the ball 100 yards past the green into someone’s living room

it's crazy how many different tips work for different people all tryna do the same thing! this doesn't look like it would work for me at all, but it's clearly helping others in the comments!

That indoor practice shot is beyond relatable. 😅

Begin by standing on the opposite side of the ball. Touch what would be behind the ball if you were on the correct side. Walk behind the ball and face away from your intended target. Move laterally as a snow crab would take your stance and hit the ball😊

I have practiced with placing the club straight and into ground on front of the ball with my left hand. Then adding right hand & moving the club behind the ball making the shaft lean. End result is the same, club bit off the ground at address, seems to help on contact. I think logic is that if you put the club into ground behind the ball and make the swing from there you_will_hit fat shots.

Quick question

If I, at address, push down on the top of the grip with my left hand and slightly lift with my right index finger, is this a similar way to address the ball? It stretches my left arm (“removes the slack”) and lets me hover the club slightly with the toe of the club slightly up. Swinging back I keep pushing my left hand away. Is this setting me up for a disaster? Is your method better?

I hit less fat shots this way. Fat shots are my miss (50-60% sometimes) so much that my right elbow is going to fall off. It hurts to actually lift a gallon of milk.

I will try your way and see. 😀

Thanks - joe

I am a low handicap player and during the winter when the turf is very soft I always hoover all my clubs.I noticed that you ground your clubhead just next to the ball and you dont leave any space between the two.Being the clubhead so close to the ball arent you afraid to thin the shot ?
