Solo Sail to Anchor - Single-Hand Sailing Practice

The Fog was creeping in which changed my sailings plans.

Managed to get the sails up in the turnaround and sailed down the channel towards Bodega Bay, but the Fog was creeping in and I decided to head back down the channel.

I sailed all the way to my anchorage and managed to drop anchor without turning the motor on!

Inflated the Dinghy at anchor and made a quick beer run to test my new battery and electric dinghy. 24 volts and 86lbs thrust, Baby!

The next day I did a bit of scrubbing and then it was back to the marina where I almost FAILED the landing, but managed to stick it! The practice is paying off.

Practice makes perfect. Really enjoying watching your videos - i'm learning a lot in the process. You are lucky to have the Pacific on your doorstep - your boat is perfect for exploring the islands ...

To raise your main sail go as deep downwind as the channel allows and motor back into the wind as slowly as you can and keep steerage. You needs sails up to heave to, which is good for reefing but not rasing sails.

Getting much better at docking. Im very interested to see how long your sprayer works with salt water in it.

I'm enjoying your channel and have just subscribed! Sometimes the anchor will clean itself if you motor slowly with it just below the surface. It's nice to see some sunshine. I'm in rainy Wales, UK.

Only one suggestion: you might want a snubber on your anchor chain. Love the content!

Really liking your channel. I’m still very much a novice and building up to solo sailing. Not there yet! I notice you have auto helm and I find this really useful when unfurling and furling the mainsail. I head into wind on motor and hit the auto helm to hold that course whilst I can then deal with the sail without worrying about being blown off course. It works for me, at least! Anyway, good luck with future adventures and keep posting the great content.
