IKF Muay Thai 1st time competing - Lost within 10sec

After 1month of training I tried (40yrs old 180lbs) my first time competing in IKF. 2 leg kicks & I was out. I took it too lightly and paid the price. As embarrassing as it was all I can say is that I tried. I still plan on continuing my training but at my age competitions may not be for me. I’m sure I’ll get plenty of laughs out of it. I really hoped I would have done better than I did.

It is absolutely insane you would post this. Literally, what other channel on YouTube is this transparent? Your channel deserves to be huge my man. Keep the content flowing. We LOvE IT!

Hey Dow, the vast majority of people (including myself) wouldnt have the balls to step into that ring at our age. The fact that you did, is a credit to you. Dont hang your head too much.

Takes brass ones to do what you did, Brother. Remember, a lot of people wear those "Tap Out" shirts but have never been actually tapped out in practice. Great stuff.

Don't sweat it, I've seen people lose even faster than that. Competing in tournaments may not be for you at your age, however you can still train to learn self-defense and to build friendships/connections in class.

Hey man, Atleast you tried, a lot of people will just talk crap but won’t do anything like this themselves. Now you know what you need to work on to get better.

That’s super commendable even getting in the ring to begin with! I love your tenacity. Keep at it 💪

Is the other guy a Snap-On dealer? If not maybe he could look into it, his skills would be highly transferrable. 🙃

Justin Dow.. It does suck but when I seen and heard that kick I knew it was done. Congratulations for trying though. Reminds me of my younger days when I did that. Made it two 2nd degree black belt.

Mr Justin CREDIBLE! Holy smokes bro. I knew a labor foreman back in the day that was a retired professional boxer. Had a record of 9-1. I asked him why he retired with such a great win/loss record, to which, he replied "I was 9-0 before my last fight. That last one left bruises on my unborn grandchildren. That guy beat the BRICKS off me! That was it."

Props for getting into the ring. The nice thing about a video is you can go back and critique yourself. Just remember that you have to start somewhere. You are just starting out and will get better the longer you do it. Keep your head up and keep plugging along.

I have been there as a older person doing Judo. Keep your head up. Only a few understand and some will never understand.

Years back I thought doing MMA might be fun, then during a BJJ class I met a Muay Thai guy, asked him to kick me in the leg at 50% power. Any thoughts of MMA, or anything outside of grappling quickly went away. Hah

Balls of brass, my dude. at 40, you might just want to train to stay in shape and self-defense.

At leaat it was a couple kicks to the leg and not the dome...

So hows that Mobile mechanic stuff going

Super awesome for discipline and exercise but competition at any age is too risky. At your age it is not wise in my opinion. Health is too important to risk at this hobby. Mobile mechanic is hard enough without prejobsite muy Thai kicks to the knee. I am sure you have seen it but the real life mui Thai boxing is one the most brutal combat sports in existence. Try yoga or just light sparing. Less human punching bag type activity is better for longevity. Sorry to criticize you for an otherwise awesome video.
