David Hart Demo Day (Ames Room)

Показать описание
For Demo Day I chose to construct a makeshift Ames Room. I was able to find a blueprint online, but it took me forever to get it to stand up right, it involved a lot of cutting, taping, and throwing away paper (I was never very artistic). I was able to get the Lego's in order to get to objects of the exact same size. When you look through the peephole the Legoman on the left looks much bigger then the Legoman on the right, that is due to the shape and size of the Ames room, and the forced perspective due to the peephole. The forced perspective from the peephole makes it so the depth (higher ceiling wall is farther back) that we are perceiving forces us to see the Legoman as smaller than the size we know it actually is. The floor tiles are also get longer in the right corner as you get closer to the Legoman on the right, this helps in making the legman look smaller. When you look at the Ames room from a different point of view you can tell that the room is distorted and the correct size of the Legoman is perceived.
