Serves 4-5 people
Recipe in English:

Ingredients:
-Oil ¼ Cup
-Zeera (Cumin seeds) 2 tsp
-Laung (Cloves) 3
-Darchini (Cinnamon stick) 1
-Pyaz (Onion) chopped 1 large
-Lehsan paste (Garlic paste) 1 tbs
-Tamatar (Tomato) chopped 1 large
-Lal mirch powder (Red chili powder) 1 tsp or to taste
-Namak (Salt) 1 tsp or to taste
-Dhania powder (Coriander powder) 1 tsp
-Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
-Hari mirch (Green chilies) chopped 2-3
-Chana daal (Split bengal gram) 1 & ½ Cups (soaked & boiled)
-Pani (Water) ½ Cup or as required
-Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Tadka:
-Oil ¼ Cup
-Curry pata (Curry leaves) 9-10
-Kashmiri lal mirch (Kashmiri red chili) powder ½ tsp
-Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) chopped
-Adrak (Ginger) julienne

Directions:
-In pot,add oil,cumin seeds,cloves,cinnamon stick and mix.
-Add onion and fry until light golden.
-Add garlic paste and mix well.
-Add tomato and mix well.
-Add red chili powder,salt,coriander powder,turmeric powder and mix well.
-Add green chilies and mix well,cover and cook on low flame until tomatoes are soft.
-Add boiled split bengal gram and mix well.
-Add water,mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
-Add garam masala powder,cover and cook on low flame for 8-10 minutes then mix well & set aside.
For Tadka:
-In small frying pan,add oil and heat it,add curry leaves and mix.
-Turn off the flame,add Kashmiri red chili powder and mix well.
-Add tadka on cooked split Bengal gram.
-Add fresh coriander,ginger & serve!

Ajza:

-Pot mein oil,zeera,laung aur darchini dal ker mix karein.
-Pyaz dal dein aur light golden hunay tak fry ker lein.
-Lehsan paste dal ker mix karein.
-Tamatar dal ker ache tarhan mix ker lein.
-Lal mirch powder,namak,dhania powder aur haldee powder dal ker ache tarhan mix karein.
-Hari mirch dal ker mix karein aur dhak ker halki ancch per tamatar naram hunay tak paka lein.
-Boiled chana daal shamil karein aur ache tarha mix ker lein.
-Pani dal ker mix karein aur 2-3 minutes kliya paka lein.
-Garam masala powder dal ker dhak dein aur halki ancch per 8-10 minutes kliya paka lein phir ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein.
For Tadka:
-Chotay frying pan mein oil dal ker garam karein aur curry pata dal ker mix ker lein.
-Chulha bund ker dein aur Kashmiri lal mirch powder dal ker ache tarhan mix ker lein.
-Tadka ko cooked chana daal per dal dein.
-Hara dhania aur adrak dal ker serve karein.

Note to myself: use 200gram of daal, boil it with half tsp of salt. now when make gravy, use half chicken cube, half tsp salt, 3/4 tsp chilli pepper, 1/4 tsp garam masala. on tarka use 1/4 tsp chilli powder.

Iam from Kerala one of the south state of India. I ate this chana dal from a Pakistan restaurant in Dubai just two week before and iam addicted this recipe ❤️. Today iam going to my first try on cooking this 😊.

Made it today. Delicious. Will increase red chilli next time as we eat more spicy but this spices is wat people normally eat. Food fusion is awesome

I used Aamchoor powder and Chaat Masala...with these two extra ingredients the tadka daal taste more delicious 😋 and yummy🤤.

Assalam uWalaikym, i am just done cooking this dhal & it is utterly divine! I cannot wait for my husband to taste it.. & regarding the oil.. A quarter cup is not alot of oil at all, the food isnt oily in the slightest.. Even if it were, you can drain the oil out if its not to your liking.. But i wouldnt.. As it takes the flavor of this dish to a whole new level! I am making the beef pilau recipe from your site tomorrow, inshaAllah. May Allah reward you well for sharing such mashallah recipes. I also made the chicken bryani lastweek, very yummy!
