Very informative. Was really worried about QLC. You have allayed my fears. I love your sis too. Was so sorry for your loss.

Great stuff! I feel like this smart method of a portion of fast SLC with a reservoir of slower QLC would be great on the next-gen consoles for both game storage and loading if they come out with a blazing fast PCIe 4.0 version.

MTBF is "Mean Time Before/ Between Failure" it's measured in HOURS. That is NOT the TBW (TeraBytes Written) rating.

For those worried about the QLC, think of it this way: you would have to fill a whole 2TB drive *in one go* before you ever see it.
I've had a 2TB Intel 660p in my PC as a game drive for nearly three years and I have never once hit the cache limit.

not a fan of the move to QLC, but it is interesting that the entire drive starts off in SLC mode, which does turn my head I wont lie. I suppose the concern left is durability, and what happens if you try to write to it whilst its doing its maintenance of moving previous writes to QLC. I am guessing it would pause the maintenance and it would still be fast.

Great review and explanation of the technical jargon! Any setup for this drive needed for a Windows computer? Did you change the Device Manager Policies for the the drive before testing? Please comment on the heat when you wrote the massive test file to the drive?

It will be nice someday when they get cheap and replace all of the mechanical drives in the server.

That's nuts.

I love the ethos of "This thing has a 2TB cache..." *promptly saturates with a single file* 🤣

Never change dude 👍

I would like to have it...but it would be a financially irresponsible for me to get it. If SATA SSDs would get ALOT cheaper at 2-4TB I would just get one of those but at the price most are at I would rather get a 2TB PCIE Gen 4 SSD.

Would love one, but I need to win a lottery first!

Can I afford it? No.
Do I want it? Yes.
I'm currently running a 2TB Intel 660p as my only drive, and I've never been bothered by the limits of QLC.

You should read some of the reviews on Amazon. And for $1500...that thing is in RTX 2080 Ti territory. And not many can afford it or honestly justify the cost.

Do I want it? Yes, yes I do. Can I justify the cost? No, no I can't.

"Can you afford it?" No, not unless I sell some organs that are critical to my survival.
"Do you want it?" Of course. It would be completely and utterly overkill for my use, but that e-peen is important.

I would really like to see a review of the 2TB version and comparisons as thats more inline with average users budget.
