Podcasters Defend Ben Shapiro, Hit Back at Cancel Culture After His Mere Presence Deemed 'Harmful'

Two podcasters are sounding the alarm on the perils of cancel culture after Podcast Movement, an organization hosting its annual convention this week in Dallas, Texas, issued a widely-rebuked apology after conservative commentator Ben Shapiro briefly showed up and took photos with fans. Misty Phillip, founder of Spark Media Ventures, and fellow Podcast Movement attendee Jodi Howe told CBN's Faithwire the entire ordeal is an example of cancel culture run amok. "We've got to stop this, and we have to accept the fact that we're not all going to think alike," Howe said during a video interview from the conference. "We don't get to shut people down when they say and do things that we don't like, and it's OK to disagree. It's OK, to disagree without attacking people that have different opinions." Here is their reaction.

God forbid we allow an intelligent, truth-telling voice like Ben Shapiro to show up at a podcast conference. What a joke.

You can't say "diversity and inclusion" if you're going out of your way to silence dissenting opinions.

the people recognize hypocrisy.

The fact that this podcast movement group thought Ben Shapiro being present was "offensive" and "harmful" shows just how weak and pathetic many people are and how others have become the same. I don't know whether to laugh at these irrational hysterics or pity them, but I have a hard time pitying people who are so soft and easily offended.

You don’t have to like Ben Shapiro or agree with what he says, but come on. He had every right to be there. If people don’t like it that’s on them.

Yeah, it't fine to take the money from Ben, but we apologize for his existence...

That's a FAKE tweet. Otherwise the real person should come forward to explain themselves.

Small things offend small minds. Even smaller minds jump on the bandwagon.

The podcast movement definitely gets a bad rap for these idiots banning speakers or harassing and uninvited guest that would contribute greatly

One trans person complained and podcast movement shot themselves in the foot. I hope another organization takes advantage and creates a new podcast conference.
