The Scandalous Genealogy of Jesus (Matthew 1)

You think your family tree has problems? Have you seen some of the ancestors of Jesus? Yikes! I don't think it's an exaggeration to call Matthew 1 the scandalous genealogy of Jesus!

Matthew and Luke include a genealogy of Jesus in their Gospels, but in this video I only look at Matthew's. Specifically, I explain the backstory of the four women who appear in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus.

Fair warning - their stories are pretty crazy. It's interesting that the story of each one of these women includes some sort of sexual scandal. And we're not talking about some lightweight stuff. It's pretty heavy. Still, there had to have been a reason for Matthew to have included these stories in the genealogy of Jesus.

In this video I take a look at the story of Tamar, the story of Rahab, the story of Ruth and the story of Bathsheba (Uriah's wife). Let's take a look.
