Building a Simple Pond Overflow

Today we're heading up to the farm pond, and installing an overflow. This will help to keep the bank/dam from eroding from water running over it.

About:
Landis Legacy Farm LLC is a pasture raised meats and eggs operation, located on a 200 acre farm, 10 minutes from Blacksburg, VA. In addition to that, there's a pre-Civil War log house that's being remodeled on farm, a century-old covered bridge, as well as many structures to be built with lumber from our on farm sawmill.

Tattor time in zone 8 or southern alabama... you are a tad north of that so late march maybe? I can assume you finished the greenhouse and have added more chickens and cows to the list of responsibilities. I sure hope this is a good year for farmers, been a dry spell for some time and our shelves are empty in alaska.. seriously, no dog food even

I have the opposite problem that I cannot find an answer to. The home I bought has a pond with overflow pipe about 24 inch diamater. I want to plug up some of it cause it keep letting too much water out. Any way to plug the overflow pipe?

I have a similar setup, but the pond is quite a bit larger, then it overflows about a quarter mile to another pasture drinker for the cows. The problem i have is that the pond grows a bit of algae and gets devris in it. I've made a homemade filter at the overflow, but it does clog now and then. Without it, i think my line to the drinker itself would clog up and be a big problem. Have you fashioned any fix for debris since you installed this?
