The MCU needs to stop meddling with these Avengers characters and start introducing the X-men and Fantastic 4 lore.

Very similar complaints can be made about Disney Star Wars. Rey was all powerful while Luke Skywalker was just a dummy

It has a lot of problems:
- bad CGI
- bad final episodes
- bad new women characters except Kate, Layla, Agatha
- wasted opportunities
- forgettable stories

I think being diverse is great, but there’s a point when it becomes excessive, woke, and forced. It’s annoying that marvel thinks they need to make every character female or black to appeal to that audience. My little sisters favorite marvel characters aren’t even female characters.

No. I think the problem with the MCU phase 4 is that the writing is bad. Their are so many plot holes in the Marvel Studios movies now, that they are too noticeable to ignore. The female characters surprisingly add something refreshing, but the writing ruins whatever intrigue you could further want for any of the characters future in the MCU.

Idk Josh. I totally get where you’re coming from. But for me, personally, Phase 4 seems off and maybe it’s the quality of the stories being told that’s not quite as good as it has been. Endgame was such a huge milestone, and if Marvel/Kevin needed to introduce new characters, then the approach from Phase 1 & 2 should have been it. New characters ON THEIR OWN, and what things were like for them before/during/after The Snap and building them up without propping them up against/with established characters. Specifically the female characters, a lot of them can be cool enough on their own if their story is told correctly. Their struggles and weaknesses explored and from there the character built up in an organic way rather than them simply getting powers and they’re great. No character, male or female, is worth a damn if that’s just how they are. And for phase 4, that’s been a lot of the stories. It comes off as disingenuous and lazy. Rather than thoughtful and honest with heart. Maybe I have my expectations too high?

Phase 4 is... and hear me out, a second phase 1. They’re introducing new concepts, characters, and plot threads while simultaneously adding to the previous phases that came before. I think we all agree that phase 3 is quite aways better than phase 1. Just let phase 4 play out they’re obviously building up to something serious. People I think are just somewhat spoiled because of how epic phase 3 was that it’s jarring to go back to the ground level and start building up again. Not every marvel movie is gonna be a super epic avengers level film like infinity war and endgame and that’s what makes the MCU great.

Captain America and Ironman were really important to my enjoyment of the mcu. Out of all the characters left right now honestly Doctor Strange and maybe Thor are the only characters I really care about in the mcu.

If they were out I don't think I could stay on the mcu train anymore.

I'm critical of Phase 4 myself but I hate the term "MSHEU". It doesn't address the real problem.

Feige needs to stop hiring hack writers. Also, I think the D+ shows are just distractions. They're taking up resources that're much better for the movies. Yeah, they're allowed for more experiments but I personally think they never reach the potentials, so what's the point?

I also think Feige needs to just drop the whole team up thing. Endgame killed it. There's no rule that states that every cinematic universe needs to conclude with a team up. It's clear this new Saga is heading there again.

Ironheart diminishes Tony Stark's genius showing that some teenager can make the same technology as him. very stupid

I’m glad someone is addressing the elephant in the room on female over-representation, and you did it in a very respectful, even handed way. Good job.

This isn’t going to get better. They are committed to destroying men in general. Loki was about Silvy, falcon winter soldier was about Sharon Carter abc the Wakandan females, Wanda was about Wanda, dr strange was about Wanda, Thor will be about Jane and king valkery (I just threw up s little) she hulk will make Hulk look stupid, ms marvel, Wakanda forever will be about Shuri and iron heart. Hawkeye was about Kate bishop and was basically crap. So in essence this is to promote alpha females with horrible story telling that only makes them relevant by destroying an Alpha male hero. This is the real
Entertainment Pandemic that’s infected ALL things that used to be good. Hollywood is a parasite that destroys good ideas, established brands, good stories, and characters. Endgame was the water mark. It’s just a fast incline to the bottom now. RIP Marvel 1960-2019

Except No Way Home, phase 4 has been so underwhelming to me. They are setting up so many plot lines in every show, but I just don't see how it's going anywhere. It seems unfocused compared to previous Marvel phases.

You said that a lot of the female characters are "written strongly", but the correct description is "written poorly as powerful characters". There is a difference. The writers are either intentionally creating unlikeable characters and/or the writers have no talent. In the course of written and watched media, there have many quality female characters (though greatly outnumbered by quality male characters), but sadly most of the recent female comic characters are simple tropes. Many of recent female characters and their writers have done nothing to earn legitimate respect. Respect is something that is built up, not just given freely because someone tells me I need to give them respect.

my main issue with the whole "m-she-u" is that its great to see female characters but when it comes at the cost of beloved male character or when the new female characters are treated as a mcguffing instead of an actual character is where i draw the line. to me thats more sexist cuz its like marvel doesnt believe these female characters can stand on their own so they use characters like hawkeye to prop up kate bishop. etc

Bad is not the word. Terrible is more like it. Outside of Spiderman No way Home, it has been just horrendously bad. The Potential of Dr.Strange 2 was even wasted.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that around the time they announced phase 4 Kevin Feige said it was going to be a "transitional phase." There were going to be multiple tracks of stories that weren't going to connect until much later. He said there was going to be an earthbound track and a cosmic track that would eventually come together. That plan seems to be underway now. I think people have forgotten what it was like in Phase One. I had no idea what was going on when it first started out. I think there's probably too much content coming out right now and not enough attention to quality, but it could be that the TV stuff is going through some growing pains and it'll start getting better later.

THESE PEOPLE NEED TO STOP ACTING LIKE KEVIN FEIGE INVENTED THESE CHARACTERS! THE COMICS CAME FIRST! They’re just sexist and salty.

The problem is, is that they haven't been able to write very consistent or captivating stories. Marvel seems to be mainly baiting off of fan service and cameos to simply get by with phase four, which is not how you usher in a new era of storytelling.

Just imagine NWH without any of the iconic villains, or without Tobey's and Andrew's Spider-men, take all of that away and it's just another basic Spider-man film that was just alright, to good at best. And then you have Dr. Strange MoM, and how lots of people liked it, but were still left disappointed because a lot of the rumored cameos didn't happen, as if that's all they were going to see it for. Not to mention the many inconsistencies and plot holes introduced in these two films, as if the plots themselves are just an afterthought; they seemed to have sacrificed the story for the sake of fan service, in these recent films.

And then you have all of the other phase four films, which were just kinda meh, to alright, nothing amazing.

So I'd say the main issue is that most people weren't quite ready to let go of the old Avengers team, which is why everyone's being baited to see the next big film simply because it might feature the likes of Professor X, or Mr. Fantastic, just to keep things interesting. Those are familiar characters, and not barely known ones such as the Eternals or Shang-chi.

So far, the only new relatively lesser known character that has somewhat caught my attention was Kate Bishop... and it's mainly because I got to see her character grow with an OG Avenger, that being Hawkeye, and seeing the dynamic between the two of them made me appreciate her more; which is why most of the new characters aren't very captivating, because there's no driving force, there isn't that unique dynamic between them and the known and beloved characters that came before.

I think they are forgetting who it is who buys their product.
