As a high school teen, I got to be one of the ‘76’ trombone players that marched out at the end of this musical…with the San Antonio symphony orchestra behind me. I was so nervous, but 30 years later I still remember the slide positions! 🤣

I’m not into musicals if I’m honest, but man this guy has the voice. Epic performance.

Born and raised in the real River City (Mason City, Iowa). After I caught the Music Directors Band at the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade doing 76 Trombones, I started searching and was surprised to see how far and wide that song has gone.

When the movie came out in 1962, the red carpet "Hollywood Premiere" was held in Mason City, with Robert Preston, Shirley Jones, even Ron Howard (he played the kid) came to town, went to the parade, etc.

Given 76 Trombones is the title, I genuinely couldn't hear much of the trombone section. But, cracking performance regardless.
