NEW Silicone Super Sponge Review (BRUTALLY HONEST)

I really wanted to love this new silicone Super Sponge. I was actually a fan of the original silisponges back in the day. While everyone else is raving about this silicone makeup sponge on YouTube, I just had a very different experience with it. I'm shocked, as I usually agree with Tati but yikes... Watch as I test the Super Sponge with my foundation, concealer, powder, cream contour and blush. Can I get it to work for me, or will it be a big fail? I'm putting it in this side by side test against my trusty Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge... let's see which sides turns out more "super".

Thanks for the review! I was just about to waste $20 on this product! Glad I didn’t

Thank you for reviewing this product. All the videos I've seen feature people with flawless faces and no texture. It's great to see a true, honest review!

Ineresting how you chose to try out the new sponge on the side of your face with more blemishes. Also with hybrid sponges like this, they have a normal sponge portion for a reason. This is because the main purpose of a silicone applicator is to spread out the product further with less absorption to prevent waste. The traditional sponge portion is still important to push it into the skin, which then creates a more blended and smooth feel. So using silicone alone would make makeup appear thicker and cakey because it is just a distributing agent. The main problem is relying on the silicone part to blend. That is why sponges like this feature both of those components.

I love the real technique one especially since you can use them dry. I love using the real techniques one. Then I brush powder on and then take the fuzzy one a little damp and slam it in and it looks really nice.

I still want to try it for myself and see if I end up liking it. ❤️

Hello Beauty Lovers! Lucy from Super Sponge here! We appreciate an honest review by all beauty YouTubers! :)
After careful review of the video we have observed a couple of important things:

1st observation: The Super Sponge could have been held under water for a longer duration before first use as for in the close ups of the product (8:01) the tip still seemed to have been left unsaturated properly.
First time use instructions are important to have the best experience with your Super Sponge.
2nd observation: The side used for the RT sponge has a very noticeably smoother skin base and less breakout than the other side. It is always important to set and prime the face well if you do have dry skin. I also suffer from dry patches and breakouts and setting the skin before makeup application is important to get a smooth and pore free finish (which does not always work out for the best if there are active breakouts no matter what tool is used)
If you would like to see more recent reviews with close ups and comparisons (which are not sponsored by any means) you may refer here:

Miranda! To use an expression that I recently heard... “Super Dud”.... An honest comment? Your skin looked smooth and lovely after using the real techniques sponge... the Super Sponge... a quick fad... Real Techniques is your best friend... don’t start a new friendship elsewhere....😊🥰✌️✨✨

Honestly...1) I've stopped watching Tati, for a few reasons. And, 2) I prefer the Juno & Co. Velvet sponges.. they're lovely, especially for concealer!

I looked at the other reviews for the supersponge and it seems like it has a better result when you glide the foundation first before dabbing motion. Maybe it had a different result because you started with a dabbing motion?

At first I thought there wasn’t much of a difference either but it did kinda leave your skin blotchy!!! Unusual, thanks girl!!! I’ll be passing

I have it at home and was a lil disappointed at first when I started using it, in the same ways as you. Once I realized that it’s best to use the silicone side first to pick up and apply product, THEN go in with the bottom side to blend, things started lookin real good. But overall it’s super easy to clean and dry and feels a LOT more sanitary than some of my other sponges and as an esthetician, sponge germs freak me outtt.

i dont know if it makes a huge difference nut all the other reviews used a very different way of applying it. they all said not to use the sponge to put the product on your face and thats exactly what you did. All the other reviews said to put the foundation on your face, spread it out with the sponge an then blend it. Im going to try it for myself and see how it goes because i think your method of application might have something to do with why it didn't work well for you but it did for so many others. Either way, great review

When Tati used it, she did use a radiant foundation and used the tarte primer she loves. I wasn't into the silcone spinge. But if I'm gonna try it, I try from colourpop.

I feel like you really gave it a chance 😕 I have 4 sponges and I sure wish I knew which was which! 😆 I have one that's super squishy and would buy more if I knew what it was! 😅 Thinkin i'll be passing on the silicone sponge. Thanks Miranda! ❤

I feel like the best idea to save product in a sponge would be a normal sponge with a thin layer of silicone and then a thin layer of sponge over the silicone so it’d still bounce like a sponge without absorbing it too deeply

I spent WAY too much $$$ on these products, and they were basically all garbage (wrapped up in pretty packaging). I cannot post a review to their site for some reason, and I've even reached out to customer service (with no response). So here's the quick and dirty review:

Pros:
-more hygienic
-easy to clean (you can practically wipe it off with a tissue and you're good)
-cute packaging
-you use less makeup product since 97% of it stays on your face rather than getting absorbed into the applicator

Cons:
-splotchy and inconsistent blending (imagine taking a rubber ball and trying to apply makeup with it)
-tugs at skin roughly, and is especially difficult around the eyes (again, it's basically like using a dog toy to put your concealer on with... Tugging around the eyes is particularly bad for your delicate skin there, that's why you are supposed to put on eye creams with your weakest finger!)
-if water absorbs into the exposed actually spongy part at the bottom then it CAN still get mouldy, plus could POP or crack the silicone dipped area
-takes some getting used to (you'll use WAAY too much product for a while)
-expensive

I also purchased their "Sponge Bath" antimicrobial soap for cleaning the sponge. It barely works, but it's okay, and I do like that it's a solid, so it's easy for travel... However, I am used to using stuff like the Japonesque makeup brush cleaner that FOR REAL gets stuff clean, and then I typically use an antibacterial foaming hand soap afterwards to get stuff really clean. You cannot use their cleaner on anything but their sponges, it will not take a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g off. *angry face*

I also got an offer right when I was placing my order on a special deal on a bunch of their "Cake Off" reusable makeup removing pads. I am now the not-so-proud owner of 9 of them... Overall the concept is good, but they're too small with a huge annoying tag that scrapes your face, piping on the edges that doesn't do anything, and it's not very helpful on eye makeup since you cannot get into smaller spaces or edges like you can with a microfiber washcloth. I am terrible at taking my makeup off before bed if I'm super wiped out, so I wanted to have access to something quick, or else I was going to sleep in my makeup (I know, I know, a HUGE no no). I started using Neutrogena makeup removing wipes, and while they worked great for those exhausted evenings, I felt terrible tossing two sheets of something into the trash every night. I discovered reusable microfiber washcloths, and they've been amazing (I've been using KinHwa Microfiber Facial Cleaning Cloths, but I'm sure anything similar would do). I use them every time I need to take my makeup off, and I take them with me when I travel (I'm done damaging hotel and friends' washcloths with my makeup!). They are super duper soft, have a little hanger in the corner for drying, dry super fast, and for REAL get every spec of makeup off your face. The feeling of wiping this across your eyes to take every particle of mascara off your lashes is OH SO SATISFYING. I cannot recommend those enough. Just don't wash them with fabric softener (it coats the fibers). All the gunk on your faces stays on the microfiber washcloth until it's in the wash. After using something that fab, it was difficult to find the SuperSponge "Cake Off" pads to be a good product... Sorry peeps!

Good luck and happy shopping!!
