Time management is an essential studio skill! Now, if only someone could invent time manufacturing technology, we'd be all set!

I think the most frustrating thing is when you have the urge to make art, but that energy needs to be for the business and marketing side and then when that’s taken care of the spark you had fizzled out 😞 it’s been something I’ve been struggling with and finding that balance!

Totally, it frustrated me spending so much time on all the packaging, emails, and marketing. I decided to take the scary leap of hiring a virtual assistant and selling mostly through print on demand. I raised the prices of my originals/commissions to make the money to hire more. My second hire was an in-person assistant, that was game changing! Hope that helps. I know it's scary to hire but it's saved my creative passion for the better 🙏🏾

Thanks for sharing. My personal most depressing time while running an art business is when I realize I've spent few hours just reading and responding to emails to clients than actually drawing.

I fell asleep at 11 in the morning and just woke up it is now 3:30 in the afternoon. Tomorrow there's another day. The life of an artist is so beautiful.

"...sometimes that just has to be good enough." That one hit hard because we never seem to get everything done when we want to. There is also the battle of maintaining our "production" items, which takes time away from the art, or at least, the pieces that inspire us as artists. We have to remind ourselves that each piece is a work of art in its own right, but to us, it tends to lose that feel in the repetitive nature when something is popular enough to recreate it on a regular basis. Then there are physical restrictions when we want to use two pieces of equipment that require a 220v line....but we haven't added that second line because there are a million other things to get done...that don't have to do with art. It never ends!! ❤❤❤

I'm having one of those days today and it's great to be reminded that the "business" part of of an art business is also important. Have a great day guys! Love your videos 😘

Yep, exactly that. Been there. When you plan to finish a commission, or whatever, but then your week gets eaten away by paperwork and admin stuff and you kinda hate yourself for not having really done anything ... But yeah. That's how it is and I think I've gotten used to it by now.

I love how positive Klee is and what she decides to focus on, I’m bringing her energy with me today doing things I don’t so much feel like doing loll

I don’t regret being kinda forced into retirement. I have trouble without deadlines just finishing an art work! I have several projects going and I just need to stick with one and finish it! Some days I am lucky to work on or in the studio and just enjoy my time. Finishing up is not so important as I am not paying bills with commissions. I have a desire to sell but I am getting back into the swing quite slowly. I am excited for you both and treasure you and your videos, thank you.

I’m very new on my journey of making my art a business year 3. Today I was so frustrated wondering is other artists studios become a mess of supplies scattered everywhere as you arrange things the workshop/prepare for sales… 😂 Thank you for this video lol When I was young I wasn’t practical, took me years to comprehend the amount of roles I would have to play to make this happen…..being your own social media marketing manager, to be a sales person when you go to shops, all these skills you have to learn through trial and error. So much time and patience as you wait for the money to afford the supplies to prepare things to sell 😂😅😅😅 SO MUCH WORK! I was naive to think it’d be easy LOL

Ah so it is normal to have days it takes a back seat? 😅 - I’ve been getting scans and frames prepared, hanging work for show, marketing etc and have a lull after a 15 hour painting for a commission last week :) not seen that portrait before looks amazing. Haven’t seen this video before despite being in the old house, great seeing this side of art business 😁 must be frustrating sometimes but we are passionate, it’s choosing which career want. I choose these tedious things over other jobs tedious moments.

A good chunk of my day is spent uploading stuff to the sites I sell stuff on. Sometimes I spend a couple of days correcting errors with uploads I have already done. of fun lol Not the most exciting thing in the world. Considering my background is in boring ol' corporate America, I'm used to the more mundane and boring part of business.

This was me today...
Got to make cards for shop...need to make prints. Embellish prints pre-order 'stuff' reply to emails, package order. Sort pets(that's 2 hours right there!) Procrastinate...recieved order of 6 massive canvases which are now hanging on wall...empty...crying like the a man desperate for water in the desert. Inside my brain is dying. I want to hear the brush in the water, squeeze the tubes. I managed to make 9 cards, fed the cats, watched a movie and clip my toenails. Tomorrow though I'm totally on it!😫😬😂😂😂
