I never heard of the Lotus Eaters in mythology before, but I can easily envision them inhabiting a casino if they did have a potion for compelling people to stay somewhere.

This scene reminds me of this world, the cupcakes could stand for the sin of this world such as money, sex, drugs, and other things and Percy’s Dad reminds me of God. Warning us and leading us on the right path because He cares for us. He wants all of us to wake up and stop being enslaved by this world and the things it has to offer. I’m not perfect, I mess up, and I need God everyday because I fall a lot. But God will always speak to us and warn us. Always because He loves us so very much. May God bless anyone who reads this.

I’ve heard a similar story to this in English class once but I don’t think it was with Percy and they weren’t called the Lotus Eaters. But it was some years ago so I can’t remember the name of the creature or the dude that was trapped for 5 years (it was years instead of days in the story).
