First look - High Torque NEMA 17 Motors for New Corexy 3D Printer

I bought these 17HS24-2104S motors (with a claimed 65N.cm holding torque) to put in my new corexy printer to see if it helps print quality, speed and/or noise. Future videos will try and shed some light on that but here is a physical comparison with my existing motors.

As with the Robotdigg rails, I've gone for a branded motor so that there's a fighting chance of someone being able to repeat what I'm doing. OMC Stepper Online is a Chinese firm and you can buy their products directly from their website (pay attention for taxes on import) or in some cases from stock in your own country ( I've only tried UK) on eBay with the tax already paid.

As with the Robotdigg rails, I paid for these motors myself and no-one has asked me to review this gear - I just thought it might be useful for others to see my findings.

Hi, Simon. Is it possible to detach the wires from that bigger Nema17 body? That white part is a removable plug?

Why do you need a high torque motor for 3d printing?

1N ~ 0.1kg... so 65Ncm is roughly 6.5kgcm NOT 65kgcm.
