Research has shown that staffing in nursing homes - numbers of staff, skills mix, and training - are critical indicators of quality care and positive resident outcomes. Yet too many nursing homes are understaffed, and the long-term care industry claims it does not have the resources to hire more staff. But is that really true? Listen in for a discussion about how complex facility practices and resource allocation, combined with a lack of minimum standards, put residents at risk for poor care and bad outcomes; as well as recommendations for addressing these problems.

Consumer Voice needs to advertise their existence more. Great service and educational videos that few people know about.

Just wanted to make a correction. They lawyer stated that short term patients get therapy for 100 days. Under the new CMS program PDPM short term patients get 20 days of therapy for 20-40 mins at 100% paid most building send patients home in 2 weeks because building lose money. That 20-40 mins is usaly concurrent with another patient so companies can send therapist home early. To save on employee pay roll. I know of a long term care building that tells therapist not to pick up long term patient up for
Therapy. Keep in mind most building the therapist help cnas and patients .therapy prevent bed wounds, keep patient healthy, maintain balance to decrease risks of falls, increase socializing. So many benefits from therapy to long term care patients. Please look into therapy as well as staffing and financing. Our seniors deserve better! Remember a society is judged by how we treat our children and elderly. God bless you and your work

I can’t express how vitally important this information is- or how finding this information is like finding a grain of sand at the bottom of the ocean. I have to think these llc’s invest more money into web based key term searches ( excuse my ignorance in this field), it took me hours .. and I means over 40 hours to find just this one video. There are soooo many people I know working in these facilities that are either unknowingly scapegoats “promoted” to career ending positions, forced into working through far worse conditions within the staffing agencies (also owned by the same top level owners) who suffer from a multitude of insecurities and instabilities making any kind of stability in life impossible, or working as staff underpaid & overworked living in constant fear, intimidation, harassment, threats & forced to work outside of their scope through manipulating tactics that place a healthcare employee at the heart of a liability- without the employee knowing. More often staff are led to believe they are helping, sold into deception resulting in a one sided version reflected in writing.. this industry ‘s tactics are both the cause and effect of their staffing crisis. There is not a crime I’ve ever heard of that is more volatile and premeditated than the blueprint long term care llc. How tremendously scrupulous, sadistic and malicious can anything exist- which manipulates the most vulnerable population, frames the staff who are intentionally under trained, harassed and manipulated until they have been traumatically groomed into silent submission- and I mean this in the most traumatic means possible.. changing them into a creature of habit, taking their humanity, pride, self worth- tearing their families apart all while cutting their under payed positions as they adapt to a life of hopelessness, fear, anxiety- unable to get the therapy they need, until the break and seek refuge in staffing agencies trading one instability for another life of cancelled shifts so these nursing homes can manipulate staffing requirements by falsifying “call outs” and create a shadow worker. Someone present in the building - while the qapi llc reviews charts to manipulate documentation to ensure the highest reimbursement. Shell staff for the shell facility… and that’s just the caregivers on the floor level. That is who cares for our most vulnerable population. They take the abuse at both ends- while corporate staff feast in luxury without regret to the violence, abuse and neglect that is causing a rate of 50% of hospitalization diagnosing to be septic shock. It’s just sick. However, I can’t imagine this without support- someone knows, maybe not to this level of intensity.. but somewhere a person of authority was afforded a winning campaign.

Create federal, even state organizations that support and regulate the workers in this environment so there is a beacon for truth. Mandate a tax paid directly from these facilities, or penalty where funding goes to these organizations.

We can’t speak up bc all of these places are connected. The “mgmt” are under qualified for their positions in an effort to manage the top up profit by giving these titles to people who will abide as told. This is all over. This is institutionalized so far across the spectrum. You can’t do right if you want. You are ostracized for speaking up. These places hire people they know will stay within these margins of offense. The reviews are paid, openly. The spectrum runs through every aspect from the agency throughout any residential aspect. Why are there no organizations to advocate that protect the he staff so real change occurs. What do staff do-
