Me and my gf were in Nyc back in Feb 2020 and were approached by these fkn bums . Guy tried to put a cd in my hand as we walked by, i said to him “why would i want that? “ he said i’ll even sign it for you, Hows that? “. To which i replied “ No i don’t want it thanks, and anyway, who uses Cds these days? . He then proceeded to call us both racists because we didn’t want his ( probably blank) cd and tried to insult my gf . I just smiled at him and as we walked away, he and his boyfriends began hurling abuse as we walked on . How these oxygen theives are allowed to congregate there is beyond me despite a decent police prescence in the area.

Hate it when people get up in your space like that. 😓 Plus, the guy who yelled “Get that camera out of my face” that’s his fault for walking into the camera.

I hope foreigners and tourists understand why us NYC residents always mind our own business and practically ignore our surroundings especially if it comes to interactions like these. That’s why most video online you see like this are from tourists. I feel bad for tourists when they go visit a place they really want to. Times Square is a big tourist site and these bums already give our city more shame than it already has

This is why I get my music from Spotify.

just keep walking and ignore them all together... these are scammers, good to show them on camera so everyone can know who to stay away from

Those cd guys only want to be in control and ask questions and they don't want us the tourist to ask questions wtf

Even when trying to be friendly they still find a way to be violent and aggressive. Glad I live in a community that doesn't sell homes to them

I was working in Duffy Square as a security guard for a Ukrainian Concert. I came out of McDonald’s. These bums handed me the CD’s to sell them to me. I said I had no money. One of them said “Whatchu mean u got no money?! U are Caucasian with a BADGE!” One of them pulled out their phone to record me saying “Why did u call me the n word? I got your company badge name.” I replied go ahead because I am the company. If I called you the n word why don’t you do something about it? You got nothing!”

These people are vultures. They tried this with my wife and I last year. I just declined and kept walking but they started with the 'your racist'. Blah blah blah, kept walking and laughed. I mean oh what will I do???? A low life street hustler called me a name. My life is shattered! lol

No one should anyone come up aggressively in your personal space like that, always a good idea just keep walking and don’t take it.

Yes, what they do isn't exactly a "scam" but a high-pressure thing. They sign your name on it like they're giving you it, but then try to get you to pay for it. (I clearly remember them doing this since 2011). The trick is don't answer questions (they try to keep you talking) and don't let them put it in your hand. If you really want to be mean, just say something like: "I pay $10 a month for Youtube Red for unlimited music selections, how can I justify giving you any money for it??

I just ask if it’s free and if so I take it and keep walking. They complain I hand it back. If they don’t take it I keep walking. They can follow me to a cop.

Does the local government see or know about these situations or just not care?

You know, I've been to New York City last year and even then, I know how how to deal with "salesmen." You gotta be on your guard with these kinds of guys everywhere you go in the US.
