Senator Al Franken has represented Minnesota in the United States Senate since 2009. He was first elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2014. His memoir is about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. In this candid personal memoir, the honorable gentleman from Minnesota takes his army of loyal fans along with him from Saturday Night Live to the campaign trail, inside the halls of Congress, and behind the scenes of some of the most dramatic and/or hilarious moments of his new career in politics.

Senator Franken is in conversation with Salon CEO Jordan Hoffner.

Being born in the US and being 35 seems a low bar to run this country.

I have no doubt Jordan Hoffner could some day become one of the all-time great interview journalists. But, in the mean time, he shouldn't quit his day job.

Sen. Al Franken, "Giant Of The Senate"? or "Comedian of the Senate."

Al I don't support silencers, but they only work on low velocity bullets, like hand guns. So silencers would be great for urban violence, who would hear?
