Sub Questions | My touring tools and spare parts.

Day Ten and the final vlog in a series answering subscriber questions from the last couple of months.

Today I talk about the few tools and spares that I take touring with me and what I use to keep Trinny the Trike rolling along for hundreds and hundreds of miles.

This isn't my usual vlogging style but while I'm short on time for touring at the moment I'm helping out my subs by answering some of the many questions I've been getting over the past few months. My subs have also been helping me out by sharing their thoughts in the comments so we can all enjoy our trikes more together. 👍

If you have any questions about the the trike or any other items of my kit or are curious about any other aspect of the channel then leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer it in a video over the next week or two.

Thanks for watching & see you tomorrow.

I ride an adapted HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS26 trike.
My panniers and sidebags are made by Ortlieb.
I film using a Canon G7X MkII, GoPro Hero 6 and a DJI Spark Drone. I also occasionally use my Galaxy S9 phone to record some footage but prefer not to if I can help it.

If you're over on this side of the pond the C&O Canal Towpath is a terrific scenic bike ride. It's 184 miles and there are free hiker/biker camp sites along the way.

Just watching your videos again, hope all is ok as not seen any new ones for quite a while now. Hope you will be able to post more in the near future. I have just purchased my ice adventure 20RS with shimano steps Eassist. Living in Keswick in the Lake District it’s a must...as you will probably remember from your tour of Cumbria. Whinlatter pass is just a few minutes from me and there are hills in every direction so e-assist really helps.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the information I'll look forward to your next post.
Like yourself I've got HP fenders and I've found the mud flaps rattle and make loads of noise which is unwanted.
I've removed all 3 fenders and installed 2 brooks leather mud flaps from other bikes onto the front fenders.
They look amazing and keep all the water on the road and not over me, also no noise.☺
I hope you find this useful.
Regards Iain

Great series Tim. It is truly enjoyable watching all of your rides. It has help make my cycling and maintenance of my trike and other bikes more enjoyable. Thanks for being a great inspiration. I plan on doing some trike camping if I could get some other riders to go.Stay healthy and safe Tim.

The adjustable spanner and the latex gloves were not on our list.... Great advice, thank you very much, Tim!

Good advice on the latex gloves and just swapping out the tube, I’ll have to remember that if I encounter such troubles👍😊!

Hello Tim,
Iain Laird with the Gekko.
I've been touring in Holland for the last 11 days covering 700km unfortunately not on the Gekko as I'm still waiting for the rear rack.
Once I get home I've decided to sell all my normal bikes and just use the Gekko☺
I've a couple of tips for You, the service on the rear hub and you lost the grub screw in the grass, solution buy a small pot of plumbers grease dip the Allen key into the grease and remove grub screw and it won't fall off the Allen key☺
Next the idler HP use, isnt a suitable design for their trikes if you go onto icletta on the web their after market idlers are amazing.
I've recently received the VENTISIT and it works well with the trike, a enhanced ride with more comfort.☺☺☺
Regards Iain

Cable ties are also useful to help true the wheel if you lose a spoke at least enough to get you to a shop. I take similar spares to you although i do also take a few spare chain links, just in case. Thanks for doing this series Tim. It puts person to the man in the video and in the seat of Trinny. 👍

Tim. Thanks. I really enjoyed the views and music at the end and I like that you couldn’t keep a straight face at the start!. It’s all been quality information and good to watch.

Like your video's Tim. Just bought stand up bars and put them on my FS 26. They are very solid so far. I found you really have to tighten down the clamps where they go around the frame of the bike. Velotechnik specifies a torque of 10 NM which is pretty high. A small torque wrench is good to have and not very expensive.

Thanks for this past week. If you ever come to Georgia U.S.A. i will take you the Silver Comet Trail. it's almost 90 miles of hard surface from Georgia to Alabama.

Hi Tim,
I've got a topic suggestion. I was out on the trike for 60k, I'll keep it short, there is no skin protection from the sun compared to a normal bike, my legs neck face are glowing, cover or sun cream for now on.
