Great Challenges G+: Connecting the Dots in Patient-Centered Care
Показать описание
A diagnosis may be correct and a course of treatment look great on paper. But what happens when they meet a patient's own circumstances -- financial, emotional, and practical? Research shows that these contextual "red flags" are all too often missed in clinical care, leading to less effective care. What can clinicians and patients do, collaboratively, to improve outcomes? What are current best practices to improve patient-centered communication? And, what kinds of help can insurers and third party assistants offer?
Our discussion will be moderated by Kavita Patel, Fellow and Managing Director in the Engelberg Center for Healthcare Reform at the Brookings Institution, and our guests include Alan Spiro, Chief Medical Officer at Accolade, Inc.; Susan Sheridan, Director of Patient Engagement at PCORI and life-long patient advocate; and Saul J. Wiener, Vice Provost for Planning and Programs and Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Medical Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
