The Hazbin Hotel Voice Actor AI Controversy Explained

Ai is a growing issue within any fandom, especially hazbin hotel. Since the release of the show, there’s been a rise of channels using ai voices to mimic the voice actors. Things came to a head the other day when the voice actors of alastor, amir talai and edward bosco came out against people using their voices in these projects. In this video i’ll go through everything that happened and give my thoughts at the end. Like the title card said, don’t harass anyone mentioned in this video.

an example of doing fan content right is Reed Donat, he makes little skits where he's voicing all the characters himself and not using ai. You can tell he actually cares about the fandoms unlike channels like hazbin hotspot

I’m a voice actor who’s recently started working for a hazbin hotel and helluva boss dub channel, voice acting niffity and Beelzebub. Don’t use AI voices. Hire actual voice actors who do good character impressions.
Edit: PLEASE stop replying with “oh not everyone can afford to hire voice actors” I’m so tired of having to tell people that there are lots of people, myself included, who just do voice acting for fun and nonprofit.

I "worked" for Hazbin Hotspot for a bit, & it's absolutely terrible. A few people have tried to convince the guy behind it to use original characters or voice impressions without ai, but he didn't want to listen. He never wanted to hear anyone out & only considered tweaking his methods when the threat of lawsuits came into the picture. But, of course, he's still having tantrums & being pissy 😮‍💨

i personally think it’s weird as _fuck_ to make an ai of someone’s voice. i feel like it takes away from the hard work that’s put into productions like hazbin hotel.

I work with a Hazbin Hotel comic dubbing YouTube channel (Hazfans Unlimited) and we’ve had to have multiple discussions to that the use of the AI. We all agree that it’s terrible and it’s never going to replace the VA’s on our channel (I’m one of them). I would like to pursue a career in voice acting, and the rampant use of AI for covers, comic, dub or even just for fun is really scary, sad and disheartening.

Considering the Hazbin Hotspot literally flexes that they make a good chunk of scratch off their shitass theft content, it seriously wouldn’t hurt them to hire REAL VA’s, even amateurs who are still working on their craft, who would be grateful for the work and practice, especially if it means getting paid for their work, like ALL ARTISTS SHOULD

As someone who voice acts, if one day my voice was used for ai stuff, I'd be scared. I'm very sure this won't ever happen, but if it does, it's actually one of my biggest internet fears because of what the ai could be used for.

Now for who's in the right? Obviously the voice actors. They've put so much hard work into voice acting only for someone to make a terrible AI voice impression of them which isn't okay.
