While stars like Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Chappell Roan, Beyonce, Sabrina Carpenter and more arrived to hopefully win awards, others like Bianca Censori and Kanye West kind of stole the show by bearing it all.

I’m no prude and nudity doesn’t bother me, but the Kanye and Bianca situation bothers me deeply because it is only Bianca who was objectified. Why didn’t Kanye come in the nude himself? If Kanye wants to make a statement, why doesn’t he objectify himself?

If Bianca Censori walked the red carpet alone and revealed the sheer dress at least I would feel like she had some dominion regarding her body and not that she was somehow trafficked into exposing herself by a master manipulator like her husband. That the press took pictures in such a frenzy made me deeply uncomfortable. The whole thing was just awful.

Dega's Ballerinas on Chapelle Roan's dress is a reference to the Gilded Age and the performers as prostitutes. Ballerinas in France in those days were forced to "serve" benefactors of the ballet. To me this is a clear reference to the artist selling themselves out for the sake of art. It was a genius clapback against the industry. bravo.

from a ballet dancer who is the child of professional ballet dancers/teachers -- I got the reference immediately! The Chappell Degas reference is likely a reference to the Degas dancers, who were blamed for the spread of syphilis in Europe. Ballet dancers back then had to operate under a "patronage" (sex work) system to survive, and didn't receive healthcare, so an injury/pregnancy was a career ender (and still is!) This ties into her speech about healthcare for artists. Artists need to be supported in their art to be able to do it -- when your body is your instrument (singer, dancer, actor, etc.) healthcare is SO important, but also very infrequently offered to art workers. I LOVE how she tied art history into the present moment. Free healthcare for artists (and for everyone!)!!!!

something about bianca being essentially nude while kanye walks around fully dressed in all black just felt like some weird form of displaying a trophy and i understand she agreed to wear it but it was definitely his idea and something about it just really disgusted me and tells you exactly how little kanye thinks of women

What Bianca wore was disrespectful and I agree with people saying it was a form of sexual assault. When you go in public you expect people to act with a certain level of decorum. Pushing the limits and doing things for shock value is fine within reason. This crossed a line

Bianca was definitely not comfortable going completely nude on the Grammy's red carpet. Knowing Kanye has a history of dictating what his partner's wear, I'm with the theory that he forced her to do it to be some pretentious "artist" AND humiliate the poor woman.

As one who provide services fpr women dealing with sexual trauma, this is 100% abuse. If you remember the last time he made her walk close to naked, she was hiding herself with her purse and the look on her face was traumatic! He is so disturbed and sick.
