Saudi Arabia’s purchase of Newcastle United isn’t all about us

In this video we look at Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ to steer away from oil as being its primary economic revenue source.

As part of its Public investment portfolio, Saudi Arabia have purchased Newcastle United to boost its own agenda to create revenue opportunities for sport and tourism in Saudi Arabia. They see a success premier club as being crucial to stimulate interest in their own country.

I also discuss other opportunities in our region where Saudi Arabia may use their purchase of NUFC to capitalise and invest in infrastructure, transport and renewable energy.

Newcastle United is not the richest club in the world. It’s a small part of a larger project to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy.

Awesome video, well considered. Had no idea about the container port element and makes perfect sense. I'm actually surprised they did not see if the club went down (or not) before buying, as they could have leveraged a much lower price from the previous owner.
