Close Enough is Cancelled

Close Enough, Regular Show's spiritual successor made at Cartoon Network Studios, is cancelled. HBO Max revealed that Close Enough Season 3 is the end of the series, with JG Quintel coming forward to share his thoughts. Why did Close Enough get cancelled so soon? What comes next?

Everyone tuned into Close Enough episodes on HBO Max because it was like an adult version of Regular Show. Mordecai, Rigby, and the rest of the park gang lived on through Close Enough too. JG Quintel managed to tell a different story compared to his first Cartoon Network show, and it definitely became one of the the best in adult animation. After only lasting three seasons, we unfortunately have to say goodbye to Josh and Emily.

Animators really should band together and create their own platform at this point, because the amount of disrespect after disrespect on recent times is unacceptable; it's as if corporations are trying to erase animation as an actual medium, much like how the Oscars always dismisses them

What sucks is how long we had to wait for the show after the first teaser came out (especially international viewers). This is an amazing show, it doesn't deserve to be cancelled.

Close Enough was announced in 2017 and came out in 2020. The show ran started in 2020 and ended in 2022. The time between the show's announcement and its premiere is longer than the actual lifetime of the show itself.

This is something I probably should’ve seen coming but that doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed.

I really enjoyed Close Enough. It was literally Regular Show but for adults, which I’m sure gave JG Quintel more freedom. It was a modern adult cartoon done right. The fact that it’s now over really sucks because I could tell they had a lot more stories to tell.

HBO Max really did make a big mistake. I wish it could’ve lasted longer, but I want to thank JG and the cast and crew for making this amazing show possible.

I really did think Close Enough had the potential to be kinda long-running - maybe at least 6 seasons or even more

Honestly I genuinely am gutted that Close Enough is cancelled, the premise got better in S2 and it looked like they were starting to do a over branching story, so yeah I was excited to see more but now I’d be lying if I said it sucks.

For some reason, i always had a feeling that a cancellation of that show was inevitable. however HBO Max may have cancelled Close Enough but they could always just move it to another network or streaming service because i remember people saying that they should put it on Adult Swim just like they did with Tuca and Bertie, and on some level i think it would've been a good idea sure AS would tone the show down but it would still be better than having it be cancelled imo.

But oh well, all good things must come to an end i suppose.

That’s a shame. Always enjoyed JD’s animation style. Regular Show was one of my favorite shows. A shame to see a show like this canceled.

Aw that sucks. It really deserved more. But we should be grateful that we even got it in the first place. And who knows maybe JG Quintel could reboot Regular Show or make another original cartoon.

So they know Close Enough is a fan favorite show, and yet they still chose to cancel it. If possible, I'd just move it to a more trustworthy platform, but that's probably going to stay only as an idea

I literally binged the series yesterday and was excited for Season 4. I hate it when good shows with potential get cancelled yet we're gonna see 80 seasons of Teen Titans Go

This reminds me of when OG *_Teen Titans_* was cancelled. According to the showrunners, some new executives were hired at CN and they forced the creators of all the CN shows airing at the time to re-pitch their shows to them. If the new executives didn't like their pitch then their show was cancelled. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened to *_Close Enough_* due to the merger.
