Caravanning in France: From Grimaud to Paris

We’ve loved going back through the footage of our caravan holiday in the south of France this summer. Although this vlog comes near the end of our trip - and there are so many places we haven’t shown you yet - this was such an adventure that we couldn’t wait to share it!

If there’s one thing we’ll remember from the trip; it’s that every journey took at least double the Google Maps estimate.

This is what happened when we decided to change our departure plans from Grimaud to Paris.

We hope you enjoyed this vlog! Check our our Caravannery on Tour playlist for all our vlogs about preparing for our caravanning holiday in France, and for footage of the trip itself (we’ll be vlogging it long after Christmas has passed!).

And if you’re having a holiday in France this year, or visiting Paris, then here are our finds which you see in this vlog:

1. We can’t speak for the other times of year, but certainly at the height of summer, and while towing a caravan, all journeys took at least double what was expected. If you head out on the road with that expectation, and plenty of scheduled Aires stops (French motorway services - they’re incredible!) then you’ll have a great time.
2. FInd out your site’s check in time and check what their policy is on early check in if your pitch is vacant.
3. French radio is awesome.
4. There is far better French food to be enjoyed than a McDonald’s breakfast!
5. When travelling around Paris on the Metro, a Navigo card is the cheapest way to do it - it’s a bit like an unlimited Oyster card.
6. Le Paprika Restaurant (28 Avenue Trudaine South Pigalle) is absolutely incredible. Ask for a table outside and trying the Hungarian goulash is a must.

Haha the old grave yard shift driving. I think it's easier if you're a professional driver, but I did it once and slept for about 2 days after. But you do avoid traffic. Great vid, thanks again for sharing..Graham
