IBM Watson vs. Microsoft’s ChatGPT: The AI Chat Matchup of the Century

In the past few months, AI chatbots have gone from being at the outer edges of the public consciousness to smack dab in the center.

There have been plenty of reasons for this, but number one on the list is the high-performance chatbot ChatGPT.

What Is ChatGPT? 🤖

ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, a funded initiative that creates AI agents that are meant to serve the greater good of humanity.

Not long after the latest iteration of ChatGPT, GPT-3, made its public debut, people all around the world were obsessed with it.

From hosting philosophical conversations to writing essays for fourth graders, ChatGPT has proved to be one of the tech world’s biggest eye-catching public spectacles in recent memory.

However, this is certainly not the first time a big-name company’s chatbot has made the news.

Recall that a mere decade ago, IBM debuted IBM Watson, an AI chatbot that got a lot of attention for beating human contestants in Jeopardy, which is basically the 21st-century version of the Turing Test.

IBM Watson has not been trotted out for publicity stunts at that scale since then, leading media outlets to ask questions such as “What Ever Happened to IBM’s Watson?”

However, IBM Watson has not gone anywhere since its historic Jeopardy dub.

According to IBM, Watson is employed all over the business world, with 70% of banking institutions using Watson.

As far as AI chatbots go, this is like Kong vs. Godzilla.

However, in our opinion, the edge belongs to Watson because of its proven success in the many industries it has been employed in.

This ranges from advertising to healthcare to streaming services and beyond.

For this reason, any business looking to leverage a chatbot service is better off going with an IBM partner, due to Watson’s proven experience and success.

Though ChatGPT is the bright young thing of the conversational computing world, it is unseen yet just how successful it can be when implemented for business purposes across a wide variety of industries.

AI is not the future—it is right now. And right now, businesses everywhere are making use of their data with AI platforms.
