The Scheme 13: 'Auditioning' for the Supreme Court

March 15 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Courts Subcommittee, went to the Senate floor to deliver the thirteenth in a series of speeches titled, “The Scheme,” exposing the scheme by right-wing donor interests to capture the U.S. Supreme Court and achieve through the Court’s power what they cannot through other branches of government.

This week’s speech discusses Scheme judges’ “auditioning” for the Supreme Court – a practice that helps aspiring justices catch the eye of the right-wing donors who control Republican presidents’ nomination process.

Thank you for clarifying the role that the Federalist Society has been playing recently in the selection of our judges, particularly our Supreme Court Justices. Americans have seen the control of their courts lost whenever the Senate balance falls in favor of the Republicans, and we have an unscrupulous Senate Majority Leader making defining decisions that override those of the President and the best interests of the country. The loss of faith in the value of SC decisions has already begun. When our SC has become merely a tool of a political party, then it can no longer perform it's function as a 3rd branch of government. The most obvious response for citizens is to make certain that the Republicans never get close to a majority in the Senate again.

Thank you Senator Whitehouse for explaining about the federalist society and how they network together to get these conservative judges to run for the Supreme court. We the people must elect more Democratic Senators to the Senate or President Biden must expand the Supreme court. These 3 conservative judges along with other conservatives on the court have done a lot of damage to this Country. Please let your voice be heard! VOTE in November for the midterm elections!!!

$677. a month from Social Security is not enough to survive on. It has become Social Poverty like living in a financial prison, there is no way to afford anything social. There is nothing left to pay for vehicle insurance, forcing us to lose independence. Many of our homes are paid for but we can't even afford repairs when something happens. It's like we are financially being forced out of our houses that we spent a lifetime paying for. Its great we are finally helping families but next Can something be done to increase the minimum Social Security for those with no additional source of income or pension.
