Protests by the Gilgit-Baltistan residents have been intensifying with each passing day against Pakistan government and army. The protesters are allegedly threatening the Pakistani administration that they want a merger with India if their leader is not released. Mobile internet services have been suspended across the region by the authorities, as reported by Pakistani daily Dawn. Amid the unrest, Gilgit-Baltistan government reportedly decided to call in the army for the maintenance of the law and order situation.

It seems that pretty soon Gilgit-Baluchistan and so call POK would merge back with Bharat (India) with the mutual consent of the citizens living in those provinces. There was a suggestion that they would send a representation of their provisional government to New Delhi. I sincerely hope that the only purpose of this delegation would be to familiarize themselves with the constitution of Bharat and not to make demands for any special provisions for the future citizens of Bharat in the incoming province. I assume initially the province would become a Union territory until its functioning and borders secured. It would be a greatest mistake if the incoming province makes demands, provisions, and exclusions other than the existing and future constitutional changes applicable to the rest of the Bharat. Although, initially it may seem beneficial to the new citizens to have special provisions in the constitution but invariably in the long run it is very troublesome for the province and the nation as a whole. The examples are the state and the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir suffered immensely until their special status was made null and void. The states of Manipur and other North East also suffer because of such exclusivities from the general constitution of the nation. A country essentially must have same laws applied to all its states (provinces) and citizens.
