In this video, you'll learn how to set up the GivEnergy All-in-One home battery storage system. This sleek system comes with a high-capacity battery and a GivEnergy gateway. It's perfect for homes without solar panels, allowing users to buy energy at lower off-peak rates and avoid expensive peak-time costs. The GivEnergy gateway smoothly manages energy usage and provides backup power for an entire house. Plus, as we'll show you, installing the battery-only system is quick and doesn't require MCS approval, making it a great opportunity for all electricians.

I like how easy you made the commission look lol. Many an hour on these bad boys I will not get back lol. Great product though! Wouldnt want to fit without MCS certification, especially if the customer wants to export energy. The DNO application if this is the 6kW version will also require the competence box on the G99 to be complete. They usually look for MCS registered electricians. Perhaps using the "new" octopus route you can negate this but as an installer I would not want to. The insurance is the big thing for me. It is not impossible for manufacturers and installers to fail... Having that for consumers is something reputable installers would want in place.

Great content, excellent products. The real news, is this company will hopefully manufacturing these batteries in the UK soon.

I had one of these installed last Sep - very easy to use on app or portal. However, one issue though - data analytics using the GE portal do not match the Octopus data provided for import and export. As a result, I update a spreadsheet daily tracking solar generation and home consumption each day and then use the Octopus data for a true view of import and export. In the process of making a video to show these differences to make people aware of it.

Good to see that there is a Bypass Switch since the equipment greatly increases the complexity of the home electrics and the potential for component or system failure. A "massive" warranty does not guarantee reliability.

Hmmm. Doesn't require MCS approval but _does_ require G99 approval by DNO and as the inverter rating is greater than 3.68kVA (single-phase), they may have something to say about restricting any export to the LV network. Fast changeover from grid to battery but it _isn't_ a UPS (as break-before-make is still a requirement) and so not guaranteed that any 'mission critical' devices won't be affected. Yes, some people say their PC worked fine and didn't 'notice' the changeover but that's probably luck (and large smoothing capacitors in the PC power supply unit!) more than anything. If it is vital not to lose work on a desktop PC, use a UPS whether you have battery storage with islanding capability or not.

I have read comments elsewhere in connection with this product that there is perhaps some dubious statement from the manufacturer that an earth/neutral connection relay is not required, but I could be wrong.

Just out of interest, what is to stop a user from deliberately simultaneously closing the 'Grid' and 'Bypass' switches while the device is in island mode? Is there a mechanical interlock?

The whole customer management through a web portal operated by the manufacturer is a big red flag. Wouldn't be the first such arrangement to be rendered useless if said manufacturer ceases trading. I don't understand why any business thinks this is a good selling point. Are the data analytics _only_ available through the manufacturer's web portal?

Did you connect the EV charger in to the Gateway? You didn’t show it.

Snazzy unit, Anyone else remember when photon did it way back?

MCS definitely feels like a scam but if you get solar and/or battery installed without an MCS cert getting on an export tariff is a nightmare.

By the customer not knowing about the power cut does that basically mean if I were on my desktop PC the thing wouldn't shutoff automatically in a power cut which has happened to me once in the past 12 or so months

You don't have to be MCS accredited for anything.

Any installer looking at fitting this companies products should be very careful, I purchased their equipment from my wholesale and had a terrible time, I couldn't energise the system because I hadn't done their course, which neither myself or wholesaler knew, then they wanted my wholesaler to register me with givenergy, and even after jumping through all those hoops they still wouldn't accept me, and the reason, I didn't have a website, which by the way is not mentioned on their testing course, my advice stay well clear.

Interesting, it's a LIFEPO4 battery but I can't find any mention of battery heating with a casual glance at the datasheet / details on the web site. Does it have self-heating ability? If not, that would rule out exterior mounting since charging a LiFePO4 under 0c must be done at such a low current to avoid cell damage that it is essentially a pointless exercise.

"Throttle back the power"
Hmmm, surely the power is set by whatever loads are connected?

12 year warranty is great unless they go bust, then what happens

GivEnergy must be desperate to have to resort to paid for videos seeing that the product has been on the market for long, perhaps gathering dust in their warehouse and they need to release an improved version already?

No MCS certificate, No SEG so the benefits are severely restricted

With a system like Giv Energy you dont truly own the system as it has to connect to giv energy to commission.
