As an electrician I gotta say I went through two of the Milwaukee locking bit holder and they didn’t last long. I switched to dewalt and I’m very happy with it. It’s slim and durable.

As a plumber for me the Milwaukee quick lock wouldn’t fit when I needed multiple times rendering it useless for me which was frustrating this dewalt looks like what I need, great review

Great information. I have accumulated bit holders from Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch, Makita and a few others. They all have strengths and weaknesses. It is always good to watch your reviews.

I like this bit holder from DeWalt. It's thin, you can get into hard-to-reach places. But over time, due to impact loads, the black button for releasing the bit falls off, and that's bad. So the Milwaukee bit holder is for every day, and the DeWalt is for tight spaces.

My favorite bit holder is the Milwaukee ‎Locking bit holder 73 mm. It's sold separate, or in these handy bit sets, like the Shockwave CD Set 32pc for just €16 on Amzn
The big advantage of this bit holder is the one-handed operation. Pull the ''ring'' back and the bit clicks lose, and is easily pulled out. The new bit pushes in easily, and is locked securely! Super easy!

I have been using this Dewalt bit holder for two years now, and I am absolutely spoiled by it. I have turned my friends onto it.

You're the only that has the protective sleeve on your impact like I do, taking care of your tools is not for everyone but it is for us .

I was alwaylooking for a better locking bit holder that wasn’t so bulky and the Dewalt has been my favorite so far.

Very good demo and you have shown the pro and con of both, I used the Milwaukee lock holder it is bulky, unable to reach tight corner, i have so many other bit extension holder but they are wobbling and unstable which is annoying, i have to get the Dewalt and give it ago, from the demo it looked like I am sold. I get all sizes .

I’ve been using the Locking Milwaukee for 2-3 years. They hold up well when impacting #14 or #12 screws into corrugated metal decking I keep a couple on hand. The Dewalt would have its place for sure

@PPH I have the Milwaukee magnetic and locking bit holders. I’m going to have to try DeWalt’s now that you and Morgan’s Maintenance recommend them. 👍

I have both, had the milwaukee for longer, and trusted it for heavier duty tasks more than the dewalt. I do prefer the magnet and slim desing of the dewalt.

A good upgrade would be if the dewalt had a larger and gripper area to unlock the bit.

I've got several different types of DeWalt bit holders. .they've all been really good..I have several brands but the DeWalt are what I look for the last few years..they're just good and trouble free for me
The 3" bits are the jam though. .totally take the bit holder out of the equation

I use the Dewalt, I prefer the design, it has not failed me in a couple years.

I don't care about magnetism, just the locking portion.

The Wera Rapidaptors are my favorite by far.

I've been using the Dewalt for over 3 years, personally i think is the best, also, I have no complaints about its quality, I use them constantly and they last for a long time.
FYI, it is sold at Lowe's but not at homedepot, and the price is about the same than most bit extension

I have a two different Milwaukee bit holders that I couldn't release the bit from. I actually locked(extremely tight) the bit holder into a vise and tightly clamped Vise Grips onto the bit, while holding the Vise Grips steady, I beat the hell out of them with a hammer trying to get the bit out of the holder. The holders and bits were part of the same assortment, it wasn't any sort of a mismatch or different brands with a variance in dimensions. I have completely switched to Dewalt and I highly doubt that I will ever buy anything from Milwaukee again.

From my experience the dewalt is my favorite because it’s slimmer and locking at the same time. The milwaukees locking ring ones are ok, definitely better than the cheap ones but my issue with them is the Milwaukee’s tend to almost lock he bit in the ring and you have to get your pliers to pull it back out
