This drumbeat is probably the most popular of all time. it's also the first groove that most drummers learn to play.

It's presented using the clock or rhythm wheel method in order to facilitate the understanding of what is played by each limb. This is also very useful to understand what differents grooves have in common or not.

I designed the Groove series to be a complementary approach to the traditional musical notation. It present some advantages to understand the structure of repetitive rhythms. The geometric shape of the rhythm is immediately visible and the properties are then easily recognized.

My goal with this series was to create a learning tool where the musician can spend more time practicing the rhythm and less time trying to figure out what to play.

To build this video series, i'm using After Effects for all the animations and Ableton Live to record, sequence and process the drum sounds.

AWESOME!!! Glad I just found this. Really helping me with my rhythm guitar practice to make it more interesting and insightful to visually see the rhythms within rhythms and also now makes me want to buy a drum set to learn the basics of that skill in case I need to be a back up drummer at some small gig some day ha ha. I wasn't looking for this .. it was purely a stumble upon. I'm not a drummer/percussionist by any stretch, but this simplifies the learning curve so well that if I were so inclined, I cud pick up sticks and be playing with minimal time and effort. I'd like to see this method applied to other music forms.

It would be amazing if you made one for swing! It is quite simple only with high-hat and ride, but with the top light wheel marking whole and halfnotes, I think it would be very helpfull ❣️
