Is the Mr. heater Big Maxx Garage Furnace powerful enough to heat my 1700 sq. ft shop and withstand the cold along with air leaks? Find out in this video, as we put this popular furnace to the test on a cold winter day. Also, I find that the insulation is definitely helping but I also discover a new problem with the furnace.

I appreciate all the support and be sure to leave your questions and comments below.

I say your furnace is doing a pretty good job in low digit temperatures. The garage door is an issue with the draft, I have one 12x12 overhead door and although I've minimized the air flow there's still a little there. I have a 30x80 pole barn with a 14ft ceiling and on a 15-20 degree day two 36, 000 BTU mini-splits keeps it at 60 degrees with no problem which is the temperature I like. Most of the time I shut one off and the building will stay at 55 degrees. Insulation is a big factor of course.

Regarding your door gap, my installer put rubber flaps/seals on the outside that keeps wind from blowing in

Did you consider insulating under the concrete floor? I know it adds thousands, but wondering if it is worth it. Sound like your concrete isn't the biggest loss of heat. I'm planning my build now and wondering if I should add this? I'm in SE Michigan.
