Did You Know In ROBIN HOOD…

There are some moments that heavily resemble moments from other Disney animated movies, and there’s a reason for it. During the “Phony King of England” dance number, Maid Marian’s dance is recycled from Snow White’s dance with the dwarves in 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The same song also has Maid Marian’s dance movements being the same as that of Duchess’ in 1970’s The Aristocats. It was normal in the early decades of Disney animation to use the same animated movements in numerous movies, with this being one of many examples.

The reason why Disney does this is not to make call backs to their earlier movies but to save money.

Also, Peter Ustinov played both Prince John and King Richard.

When I first saw Robin Hood on a DVD I've always wondered why some scenes look similar to the Jungle Book

Not to mention Baloo and Little John are literally the same character both played by Phil Harris. And a lot of the dances were from I wanna be like you from Jungle Book.

Hope this never gets remade.
This is good movie

Little John's dancing/singing animation was literally a xerox copy of Baloo from the Jungle book as well. A lot of these movies were considered the "xerox" era, as many various parts of the animation would be actual photocopies with colour/minor changes to fit the different movies.

This was during Disney's "dark ages" where they had to cut serious costs. They ironically made some of the most dark, emotionally mature, and iconic movies of their entire catalog during this time

The entire song is litteraly the aristocats 😂😂

Little John dancing with Miss Cluck is identical to Baloo dancing with King Louis

They did this because, at the time, the frames were hand drawn. If they could be reused, it could repurpose old drawings and save animators time and effort as well.

This is understandable. People don't understand that this is back when you had to draw EVERY frame by hand. Of course you're going to cut corners every chance you get. It's already a very slow and expensive process as it is.

And Little John and Lady Kluck's dance comes from The Jungle Book from the song and dance number 'Wanna Be Like You'.

It wasn't "normal", they just needed to keep the budget low.
And yet, Robin Hood is still one of their most underrated films!

Disney needs to use recycled animation again as an Easter Egg

I like that they did that even if it was to save money

While 50 years isn’t that long in the grand scheme of things, I don’t think I’d call this film an “early Disney film.” This film came out in 1973, exactly 50 years after Disney released their very first film “Alice’s Wonderland” (1923). I definitely wouldn’t call this an “early Disney Film.”

And it is still a way better movie than anything that is new

That rabbit in that number is recycled from the Siamese cat from The Aristocats. The rabbit even has the same facial features.😊
