Exploring an Abandoned Italianate Victorian Home with no records of existence

Built some time between 1830-1880 is a home in a small town in middle America. This home is nestled next to a major US Route and hundreds, if not thousands pass it every day. I saw the Victorian aged aged brick when I passed this property and my curiosity was then reached. After further research after finding out the address, it seems that the address of the home would pop up another home. This leads me to believe that the home was abandoned before the 90s and before most homes were digitally registered, but with no history, we can't know for certain when the beautiful home was built, when it was left behind and what architecture type. This lead me with weeks of more research of finding out when the town was established and comparing the homes exterior to similar homes of the era and I've declared the home was built between the 1830s - 1880s in Italianate Style Victorian Architecture. (But please, comment your thoughts)

This medium sized home was a perfect little find and I loved exploring all of its hidden beauty. If you guys enjoyed the exploration, please leave a thumbs up as it helps the channel and gets more eyes on forgotten history !

Thanks for watching and have a good day :)

I used to visit this house with my guardian when I was a child. We would spend time there during the summer. An older white man lived there by himself. I remember the yellow bathroom and the wall with the stenciled trees upstairs. I don't think the stencils in that room were original to the house but were added on later to appear old. The wallpaper covering them wasn't up yet, that woukd have been 50 years or so ago. I remember playing in that room with a brother and suster who were about my age who lived in a town close by. The old man would have parties, late night affairs that began to get shut down by the police as the house developed a reputation of being a place to get drugs. Its been empty since the 1980s I think. Great video. Thank you for sharing it.

It's a little surprising no one has attempted to restore this house. The bones seem solid enough, many of the original interior elements are intact, it doesn't look like vandals have destroyed too much, and it does not seem to be in the middle of nowhere with nature overgrowing the property.

You can tell that this is a well-built place. For as old as it is, there's not much damage at all. What a great find.

I recognize the towns in that old newspaper because I live in Southern IL! Neat to know that this house exists around here!

I am an old geezer but let me tell you when I watch your videos, the 14-year-old me suddenly appears. I grab my Maglite and backpack, and am ready to join in the adventure. 👍

Nice exploration and smooth easy narration. No babbling is good.
Those old wall switches should be preserved. Made to last.

Very good video sir!

Good work, explorer! Home is beautiful, and your view of it, better still. How can a mere youth appreciate the nuances of this home and family as you do? You are a mysterious, fascinating young fellow. With this video, I've now followed your channel. Be safe and happy!

I absolutely loved this old place!!! I can’t believe that it still isn’t being occupied 😞😰😢 It looks as though it’s gone through sooo many renovations!!! Different eras of history! I would love to take it back to the original, with the modern convinces! Structurally it still looks sound 👍 I love the original architectural features 👍🙏💕 The banister is in perfect condition!!! He stairway is solid!!! The height would not meet today’s requirements, however, it is beautiful & timeless none the less!!! The entire house would obviously need to be rewired & replumbed & reroofed, I would modernize and rework the kitchen & bathrooms as well!!! For the age of the house, I was amazed not to see a fireplace in every room!!! The exterior looks to be in pristine condition 👍💕 Thank you sooo very much for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!!! I truly loved it 👍🙏♥️

So sad that the house is just sitting there rotting away. I am sure years ago it was beautiful and filled with laughter and a family. The light fixtures and the staircase were the stars of the show. Thanks for the tour!

I live in a Queen Anne victorian that used to be in pretty much the same shape as this house but we restored it…took 10 years but it’s nice now, it’s funny cuz it’s just sitting here towering above all these little 1 story ranch style homes on this street

I really appreciate how passionate you are about recording history this way. I can't articulate how amazing it is, even just seeing it on screen. I had a tough week, and this video made me feel connected to something more meaningful. I feel more grounded after watching this one. Thanks
