LOVE Iowa! Born and raised in Dyersville (Field of Dreams). Living in Florida now, absolutely no comparison in the kind of people you find here (mostly East coast) to the sweet, caring, courteous, friendly (the list goes on...) people of Iowa! Wish I could raise my family there...always look forward to my visits back home! :)

From my experience people from the midwest in general are the best. They have the work ethic and friendliness and comfort food of the south without the dark history of lynching black people

Speaking from someone from Indiana, I believe its the same in Indiana. People from the mid-west are the best. The sense you get from people in the mid-west are ones who know how to work, get things done and don't ask for rewards. Maybe that's just me, but I'm proud to be a Hoosier.

As a fellow Iowa boy I can attest to what he is saying. I live in Illinois now but I was born in Ottumwa, Iowa (yes, home of Radar O'Reilly and Tom Arnold too) and I lived there until I was almost 10 years old. I had a chance to go back there a couple years ago just to see how the old place is doing. Not so hot, along with many other cities in Iowa. I think its just a sign of the times, as the railway age and industrial age come to an end, now the only places people want to gather around are huge cities. I have to wonder if this may reverse if things go sideways in large cities (perpetual rioting, looting, welfare state, etc), such that more people may seek out smaller communities.

I'm from Iowa and I find it hard to live in other states. I didn't know until I left but In Iowa, it is rude to point things out or embarrass other people, there's a sense of is it my place to call someone out in front of everyone thing. People in other states seem to have a problem understanding Iowans because we tell tall tails and we like to bullshit, It's hard to explain but some places like the Great Lakes Chicago area people say and take everything said very literally with no filter they don't hold back saying the first thing that comes to mind were Iowans try to read into how things are said.
