SYNERGY - THE WHOLE IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF THE PARTS

➡️ Whilst it’s important to ensure that everything is in working order, nothing happens in isolation. Javelin is a highly skilled, learned and complex sequence of movements with a high number of degrees of freedom at all times. The ‘perfect’ technique doesn’t exist and even if it did, do we all give up when we get there?! With this in mind, we’re always striving for ‘optimal.’ Optimal changes based on factors such as training age, biological age, injury history (and current status) just to name but a few. We are therefore constantly striving for what we believe to be optimal based on our anthropometry, muscle architecture (inc fibre type), neurotype etc.
=====
➡️ I’ve always said, that throwing the Javelin is akin to driving a front wheel drive car. The power that the front wheels put down becomes irrelevant if (for example) the rear wheels are not aligned in an optimal way. Perhaps an important message to consider at all times.
=====
➡️ Focus on the sequence and be as specific as possible with your preparation. The time (and place) for general work is far away from the javelin run up!
=====
💭 Here are a few early morning specific training exercises, with the purpose of developing synergy, reactivity and athletic stiffness, in the hope that we can foster the stabilisation of some of the key ‘technical’ KPIs and therefore execute these patterns on a more consistent basis.

I never even thought of what it took to be a javelin thrower. How nice it is to see that it's a disciplined sport with specific moments that create the power and distance each athlete is able to achieve. Thank you for sharing.
