As an ESL teacher, I totally agree. I have always told students that reading can help you learn vocabulary (in context), you can see grammar (in context), and you can practice pronunciation (if you read out loud).

I read everyday on my phone, I'd rather to actually hold the books with my hands but that's what's available to me. Since I started reading my English started improving perfectly, my English teacher gave us reading test last semester and she also gave it to us this semester to see how much we've improved and she was amazed of how much I've improved since last semester.

I read "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" in 2017 (in my first language - Portuguese) and, 3 years later, I reread it but in English, and I have to say.. it was amazing!! I read Stephen King in English and it's just so much better to read his novels in their original language! It was a bit challenging at first but I improved little by little and now it's almost no effort any more. Reading in English is one of my favorite hobbies 😁
