And I actually appreciate that people treat you with respect, only thing is that whenever I wanna purchase a pack of smokes from the gas station, they all wanna start a conversation like they know you, Im just trying to get my nicotine fix right now and go home lol

It’s genuinely disconcerting the first time you visit the Midwest and everyone is so friendly. But I would call them “friendly, ” not polite. They’ll invite you to their house 10 minutes after meeting you. But they don’t always know the etiquette. I worked at a large art museum that gets a lot of tourists in an unnamed big coastal city, and the rudest guests were the Midwest folks. They didn’t say “Pardon me, may I ask where the bathroom is?” They’d walk up and yell “BATHROOM” right h to your face in a big old midwestern accent. So rude

I've lived in Columbus Ohio and that's part of the Midwest and they were horrible. Then I moved away and went to Oklahoma thinking that would be better. And at 1st I thought it was but now I see their true colors and in Oklahoma they aren't nice as well. So NO BOTH OF THIS MIDWEST I LIVED IN ONE, AND NOW I CURRENTLY LIVE IN THE OTHER. THEY BOTH SUCK👎 And to be clear is the counties near Oklahoma City, cause I really don't know how is it in OKC maybe there they are better I assume. But the counties near it absolute garbage 👎
Unless if you like neighbors who won't put TV or radio so they can listen to ur business, and listen to you poop and urine every instant, and hearing your private conversation on ur phone or with your invited guest friends or family. Then that's you.
But personally for me that's creepy and disgusting..

They confuse and conflate kindness with niceness. Its nice to ignore the schizophrenic man on the street, its kind to assist him with getting real help.
