There’s a Filipino boardgame called Game of the Generals and it’s played like this. The goal is to capture your opponent’s flag or to get your flag to the other side of the board. Each player can strategically arrange their pieces within the first three rows. The catch is that all of your opponents pieces are hidden to you. When you capture a piece, a referee has to look at who has the higher ranking piece; the lower rank piece is taken away, and you’d have to guess whatever your enemy’s piece is. Some pieces are special, like the spy, which can kill almost anything, and the private, which can only kill the spy and the flag. It’s such a fun game and it’s been here for a while, but it’s really not that famous here.

Smart way to play would be to trade your King's movements with a different piece - for example, move your King like a bishop and one of your bishops like the King. That way you make your King harder to capture (unless you blunder) and if your opponent captures the piece they believe to be your King, unless they catch on to what you're doing in that moment and correctly call out which piece is your King, instead of winning the game, they would just capture two pieces instead.
