This is so helpful! I feel accomplished. Makes so much more sense than doing C scale.

C Major is always the go-to for piano teachers, but your reasoning for practicing Db and Gb made so much sense. Plus it makes me (a beginner) feel like I’m learning something more advanced by practicing these “harder” scales!

You are an awesome teacher! Watching your fingers from the top view makes it so easy to follow.

I appreciate how effectively you teach. Straight to the point and nailing in technique that, as a beginner, is so important. Thank you very much

I ordered the book you recommended. Now I have to convince my fingers to work the keys. I can touch type about 80 words a minute without looking at the keyboard, so I am confident that I might eventually be able to not embarrass myself too much playing the scales.

Very new to piano playing. I have just played my first ever scale, the D Flat major as instructed in the video. I tried the C major afterwards and yes it will be so much more difficult to master. I think your reasoning makes sense. Thank you.

I am a note reader, so it is hard to break old watching where you place your fingers on the notes for the scale, writing it down, then practicing.
Same with lead sheets. I want to learn the cords and find music easily, it alot like Latin.... Greek to me... I am happy to do it correctly and you help keep me Put me down in the "Not giving up club". Thank you,

Not sure if this has been addressed, but at 6:15 you mention the "harmonic minor" as being the most used minor scale. Isn't it the natural minor (as per Google below)?

Search for: Which scale is most common in Western music?
What is the most used minor scale?
The natural minor scale is the most common minor scale, and the default when a musician refers to “a minor scale” or “minor.”

I absolutely love your channel and instruction. Wish you were my teacher IRL. Your edit's are excellent and your instruction extremely useful to me as a beginner. I hope you get > 1 million subs!

Thank you very much, now I have to practice 🙂. But one question from me being confused -- when you show D flat for left hand you end it with finger "2". Why not with 3? My thinking is if you would like to go one scale further up you should use the same fingers, right? So If I learn by heart ending single scale with "2" I will be in trouble if I would like to multiply my routine. In other words my thinking is first and last finger should be the same.

Just got a keyboard and was told to learn scales first. I see you hitting all these keys....problem is I have no clue which is which LOL wouldn't it be better to explain what every key is called so I know what to hit? Maybe I need a kid tutorial first hahaha 👍
