Thanks for this. A few days ago I did this very thing on a reputable company's recent plugin release. I just out of curiosity set up two of their compressors, one on each channel. They both had exactly the same controls but but just laid out differently. In doing this test I found them to be not different ie the NULL test gave complete silence. As soon as I moved a parameter i could hear the difference between the files. I also tried it with another company's compressor but didn't get the same result.
