Wireless Carplay is on the latest BYD update, but i don't think digital keys is in the latest update

Average speed cameras in NSW are currently only used for heavy vehicles. Still cruise control for the win.

on a chinese mod show, they installed Smart EV shocks to Zeekr X (same platform).... and they say it drives much better than standard

Unlocking the BYD will give you a short amount of time when you can start the car without the key. Once the time lapses it will say timeout on the screen and you can’t start the car. I have been driving with my phone only.

chinese range tests on Qin and Seal DM-i hybrids achieved 2400-2500km on 65L fuel tank.... that's around 2.6L per 100km...
i think one way BYD to enter US is to have a modular model of the hybrid, strip the battery and export the car as ICE car... then customers can add the battery as optional extra and drive out as hybrid.... so only the battery gets tariff but not the car

Tom, what happened to an update tonight regarding the V3/4 fix in the BYD Seal? Do you have any more information on this?

Average speed cameras in NSW are NOT applied to cars, only heavy vehicles. Other states are ahead on NSW in this regard.

Public charging infrastructure does need to improve. The primary problem is still reliabilty.

Maybe Tom you can test drive/preview the BYD seagull and BYD Sealion 7 whilst you are in Shanghai.

What are the chances that the new model Y has the new on board charger tech from cyber truck and can do power share via an optional adaptor / unit? V2G would still be the best but I don't see that happening soon.

Is there any possibility for model y juniper anytime soon ??

The US tariffs on Chinese import cars is a short sighted move to protect or prolong the value (potential over a trillion US dollars invested over its course) of manufacturing capability infrastructure being ‘created’ by the IRA (inflation reduction act) .. but this is only delaying the inevitable. In the meantime .. happy days for us Aussies .. bring on more affordable quality BEV options, China .., but hold off the guitar strings (BYD Atto3) 🤣.

The whole BYD strategy is to go after legacy automotive with their own hybrid models to errode their competitors' market share with BYD PHEVS at a more affordable price.

These will eventually be phased out as the public no longer wants this technology to favour BEV'S instead, but this is a good 15 to 20 years away.

At the moment we are living in the technical recession people are watching what they spend cost of living is high therefore cars are less affordable than they are ever been. Once this turns around uptake will increase. Everything will be good.

from what i heard Ford is losing money on every EV they sold... so by discounting more and selling more, they'll lose more money

Tesla cars are sitting at Australian ports. They are unsold. Why? They are too expensive. Let's hope we get more affordable electric cars from China. If Australians could buy evs at prices that the Chinese pay in China. There would be a boom in sales of evs.

With Toyota watch what happens in Japan to what is really happening. They have made their bed they will only focus on Hybrid and Hydrogen and any EV they bring out will be a partnered car with BYD or some other Chinese EV OEM that is second rate. Everything else is marketing or BS. The only possible good news is that in countries that have vechile emission laws that diesel will be phased out.
