Vipkid Profile Introduction Video

Hello! Teacher Hollie J here with VIPKid If you are trying to get ideas on what to do for your introduction video.... Please check out my profile introductory video for VIPKid.
its longer than the rumored recommended - however, in my experiences with past online teaching prior to VK and now at VK- a student really cannot get a good image of you and your class in 20 seconds. THink about commercials- if a company wants to sell something- or a new movie is promoting- they cannot do it in 20 seconds. What they can do in 20 seconds is catch your attention and make you say wait- i want to finish watching this and see what this is exactly about. I like this.
A company selling something in 20 seconds- 1. is either already WELL established in the society to already have their product sold to millions so their consumer already knows what they get but are just viewing the newest item or 2 . it is not going to make it off the ground . 20 secs is your time to grab the attn - make your mark- but what happens next-
in my opinion thats when you make you shine- I got your attn, i reeled you in - now see why and see why you want to buy into me. - 45-60 second- goes by fast- and if its good- its going to keep your attn and make you say I want that.
I should also add- find something about yourself that becomes your mark ...... maybe you always where your hair in a braid , or always wear a red shirt- you have blue hair . Idk but this helps "consumers" say oh yes that is Teacher XYZ I can tell by her ..... and put that in your video AND your pictures ..... for example- I wear bangs and my hair up in a bun (cause otherwise its all over the place thick and curly) so that is my look, with red lipstick and a red shirt . (may change it eventually but thats my look right now) this transcends across all my media. my video and my pictures AND into all my trial and 1st new to me students so when they open that camera they get exactly who/what they saw in my "commercial"
my other tips for your commercial- be YOU- be true to you and your class- word of mouth is a major marketer and if you are who you show you are in your video- and they pick you and they come to your class and get you they will tell others about you who like that same style
i find minimize your talking in a video- instead displaying it is a great way to showcase the product- use the first 15 seconds to say hello and who you are - in the middle (the peak) use to display you in your classroom and to show who you are and what they get when they buy your product- then conclude (just like a great book)
a consumer wants to see what they are buying- if Adidas is selling me on their new shoe commercial - I dont want to hear all about the company adidas, or the background of the shoe- I Can read about that- I want something visual to show me why the shoe is meant for me, and what all it can do - be it that it looks nice on my feet, i can run in them, i can chase my kids, whatever.
speaking of carrying your brand across it all- you will see in my video i threw in 2 excerpts of “about me “ personally in there- 1. where i am from - these kiddos LOVE to hear what part of usa we live in but short and simple and 2. that i have 6 kids - thats because these two things tie to my bio write up and then I expand on "me" in my bio - with my background- AND I incorporate the 2 exceprts in my classroom at certain points- And for me it gives that one student watching my video a way to connect . I also always use in my feedback "Hello , from Teacher Hollie J in Ohio , USA! " (further carrying over my mark) you will also notice I have my ID throughout my video so they know who they are finding - and its in my photos.
I also try to display my personality- I am chill and talk very calm - But I am animated with my props and rewards - therefore I show both - surprisingly - maybe- this crosses to all ages-- I have been doing everything from previp level 1 - level 4 and have 2 level 3s that have booked me out for the next 2 weeks that i have opened already.. (plus some level 2s)
I hope that this long post and my video helps at least one person to get some ideas for their stuff . Again just want to help and anyone is welcome to message me for ideas, tips, tricks orhelp editing
