Part of the problem with Ford and his response is he really doesn’t seem to understand tariffs or reciprocal tariffs.

On one hand Trump say's he's using tariffs to stop the flow of drugs from Canada, and on the other he say's they have treated us unfairly on trade. How can they be treating us unfairly on trade when USMCA was his deal?

Let’s be honest… Trump’s tone & approach here hasn’t been constructive. I presume his game is to greatly exaggerate a few issues, adjust expectations, then pretend he’s Mr. Nice Guy by reducing it to 10% or whatever. We Canadians aren’t pretending we’ve got the power here, but we’re struggling to figure out how to be treated with some base level of respect. Good negotiators know to offer their counter-parties a Golden Bridge to cross so they don’t look or feel as though they lost. I’m not seeing anything this far but an attempt to humiliate us. Calling our admittedly douche of a PM a Governor / 51st State etc. it’s our job to insult Justine, not Dump’s. So yea, as one of the minuscule minority of to now, Trump supporters up here, even we are like, Go F Yourself man. If you had a bona fide issue, raise it with Mark vampire Carney like a statesman. I don’t care of you act like a buffoon otherwise respecting you’re own country who votes for you. But when it come to nation to nation, yea, bring the game up out of the school yard.

Ford got Trump's attention, and Trump had Lutnick reach out to Ford to ease tensions and negotiate. Ford postponing the 25% on electricity is no different than Trump's several postponements on his 25% Tariffs.

Apple, Hyundi, Eli Lilly, Honda, Stellantis, VW, and LG have all stated they are moving back to the US and open new plants. That will add hundreds of thousands of jobs to the American economy, even if it takes another year to do so. Tariffs do work as a tool of leverage.
