They better make another prequel to Alien! The timeline needs to come full circle.

Your video's are so informative. They also give me reason to dive in deeper. There is sooo much out there if you look for it. I leave a lot of that up to you, and you deliver it!!

Love the videos. You and Alien Theory are the best. I don't agree with everything but that would make for boring videos! Keeps my gears turning and Everytime you bring up a new topic or a different insight, I fall even more in love with the Alien universe!!!

thanks for the update. i am very interested in Alien: Covenant and ideally, with the possibility of exploring Davids story is fascinating. I believe he is a character on par with other enduring film characters ...rich with mystery as to what he is all about. I still love Elisabeth and Walter, but I don't know how we could have them all if we are going forward in the direction of the original Alien film. That is an indication tome that Ridley Scott has been able to consistently create fascinating characters to interact with these mysterious monsters we all love. In a lesser writer/director/cast, etc.. there is always the possibility of just getting one-dimensionally gore-fest where people only care about the monsters, and what sets this franchise apart is that it has many more people/creatures that we are fascinated and care what happens to them...et carter

I was actually hoping to see more of Shaw and the Engineers for the next movie, since it set everything up for exactly that.

I'd love to see a movie set before Aliens and how the colonists on LV426 found the eggs and how they tried to survive before being overrun.

I think there will be only one more.
Think about this: An 80 year old man is talkingabout making several prequel movies. Let's say he'd make his 3 more movies after Covenant and each one of them would be released around 2 years from eachother. He would then be 86 years old and keeping up a high pace. Imagine then it being 3 years between the 3 movies, he'd then be 89 years old.
If he have ideas for how it will all turn out, he better share it with someone.

Thank god. I loved Prometheus and my main disappointment with Covenant was that it completely abandoned the engineers. It was like what literally happened to the characters in Prometheus, they journey all this time to meet what the engineers are like only to arrive at nothing. I hope Ridley gets to do both his movies because they both sound awesome. A sequel to Covenant that involves engineers returning to find their Paradise decimated followed by a chase through the stars to destroy David and his ship of Xenomorphs. Plus the other movie which explains what happened with Shaw and David and Paradise before Covenant. Basically, the movie everyone was expecting with Alien: Covenant.

Simply, agreed. 1 more movie to tie up this storyline and if in the process it introduces a different villain that can even be franchised, then so be it. Then on to Blomkamp.

If you looks at the entire interview and its context then we see that -
1. A new CEO who has taken over within the last year.
2. A recognition that the Alien Universe, one of Fox's franchises is rich with potential but that essentially you can either, retread or come up with a fresh invigorating story, setting or villain.

She acknowledges that A:C was disappointing at the box office. It is therefore entirely logical to take the view that she believes to capture that additional larger audience way beyond the core fan base you need a terrific story that is fresh and that the reason that A:C was disappointing was because it was none of those things.

That seems to me the only logical explanation and if so it is encouraging because A:C was a well made well executed film which did not capture the wider audience because it was routine and predictable. (Everyone dies because of a Xenomorph supported by a robot)
I am quite sure she believes that what captures the wider audience is not pulse rifles or dealing with a perceived lack of risk protocols but a fantastic story where the jeopardy and proposition is genuinely unique so that we are genuinely immersed and genuinely frightened and we can identify with the character(s) and desire for survival.

The only issue she did not address is whether a franchise like Alien is the correct place to weave in a philosophical underpin to the story I hope her view is that a crucial part of the Alien Universe is its unique and uncomfortable view of creation. Otherwise its just another "Bug Hunt".

More engineers more backstory if they do 20 prequels I would watch them all enthusiastic. Would love to see a re launch after resurrection as well

If Walter can heal, I wonder if he's still alive trapped on that planet alone forever, kind of sad, he was a nice guy/robot. From the cut scenes it looked like they were going to explore some kind of relationship between him and Daniels.
I hope there are 2 more movies before running into Alien.

I find it disheartening to read Scott's comments concerning the direction of the franchise now. Prometheus opened up so many doors and allowed foe a truly expansive story telling experience. But, due to an immense amount of complaining by fans (who for the most part seemed to prefer James Cameron's Aliens to Scott's original anyways), that expansive direction may be closed off forever.

Scott had it right in 2014, the beast IS cooked. The Xenomorph is not scary anymore, especially when it's shown in daylight and not shrouded in darkness, hiding in the shadows. We've seen the Aliens in every sequel, we've seen them swarm. We've seen them degraded to mere insects and I'm concern this franchise may regress to that state of mindless, sci-fi action once again.

Prometheus made us think, whether you had issues with the character development, dialogue or pacing, the profound concepts Prometheus introduced are what made the film so intriguing for many of us. I can only hope that Ridley decides to ignore some of the negative fan reaction calling for the same tried and true Alien formula and revisits his original, expansive vision for the series.

I would like to see the Alien franchise NOT FUCKED UP anymore.

Thank you.

First I wanna thanks sci-fi explain for keeping us informed. Secondly Ridley Scott has done a great job expanding the 👽 universe ...but of course it's time to pass the torch. If James Cameron never would have done Aliens I don't think I would have been the fan that I am. I truly believe that most die hard Alien fans get the story... it's not about the 👽 it's about the black goo. Finally the shelf life for the franchise will most certainly die with Generation X. I believe Fox will put this great franchise to rest and I hope it's with Cameron.

I want to see you story line done and then retcon 3-4 and go with Blaumkamps version.

YES, just let Scott tie up the story between Prometheus and Alien.

The Xenomorph is the star of the franchise not Ripley, fans love the expanded universe and the lore of the alien, having David create them was a slap in the face to the fans, they need to retcon that in the next movie if they want the fans to keep the franchise alive.
