In 1987 Guns N’ Roses legendary Appetite for Destruction album was released and would change the landscape of Rock n’ Roll forever. Slash would become the Les Paul-slinging idol millions of aspiring guitarists would look up to, and his gritty, blues overdriven sound would be renowned as the pinnacle of tone excellence. The legendary Les Paul he used to craft the iconic guitar riffs and solos on Appetite has, over the years, developed a mythical aura. However, at its core, it was hiding a secret. The original guitar was in fact a Les Paul replica. At the time of recording, Slash was so poor that couldn’t afford a real Gibson, so he had California-based luthier, Kris Derrig, build him one. Despite being an “imposter,” the guitar had such a balls-to-the-wall, hard-hitting tone that it would go on to become one of the most famous non-Les Paul Les Paul’s ever built.

Even a Chibson sounds better if you're not gonna dial that amp right. It's also not tuned. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
