I was told that even the EV battery goes down to 0%, it could still travel another short distance of 2-3 miles! I don't know if it's true or not, but it would be great. Anyway last month, they updated the software of my VF8 Plus, and it's been great so far. It's smooth and comfortable. It's always fun to drive an EV like VF8 Plus powered by a 400-horsepower electric powertrain with all-wheel drive. I just checked Vinfast website and it's offering the similar promotion of $239/month to lease a VF8 this summer.

Hi Francie - 6.5 years ago, I had my Bolt for less than 1 day, and during those few hours, I came extremely close to bricking it in a Michigan snowstorm. Fortunately a Mitsubishi car dealership (that we found on Plugshare) had a L2 charger available to the public, so I was able to get enough charge in the car to make it to a fast charger 30+ miles away, on a day that we NEEDED to have some heat in the car to keep the windows from fogging up (family of 4 in the car). I survived that, plus 1 or 2 other close calls, and still enjoy my Bolt 100k miles later. EVs are a blast!

Your enthusiasm for documenting EVs, their evolution, and your EV experiences are always enlightening and wonderfully articulated. Nice impromptu video.

Hi Francie, Wichita Area Resident here... About .25 miles north of the Vinfast dealer there is WB Harrison Park with a Dog Park- it does require crossing Harry St which is busy most times of the day. If Vinfast gives you a loaner, you can also go to the downtown area along the Arkansas River.... There are good paved trails there. Best parking place is probably at Exploration Place. Coffee shops? There are plenty. Reverie on East Douglas near the College Hill area is probably one the best in Wichita. But there's also R Coffeehouse in the Riverside Neighborhood and Mokas near Exploration Place.

Just a suggestion why not get a Tesla to J1772 adapter to have in the car just in case you need to charge at a Tesla home/destination charger (hotel) or parents house. 😊. Glad you made it back!

Choring references remind me of Letterkenny. 😂
My VF8 is also always connecting to my iPhone from the garage even when it’s “off” and locked. So much so, I’ve gotten into the habit of turning off my iPhone’s Bluetooth.

Been waiting for the vinfast videos. I have got to see this science experiment. I have the big battery Nissan Ariya. This EV journey is fun.

One of the more important details I get from OOS and Bjorn videos is the way the vehicle acts as you approach depletion.

Well it's good to know that the Guess-O-Meter seems to be pretty accurate.

Hi Francie! Glad youre generally enjoying your VinFast experience so far.
I’ve had the steering wheel buttons stop working as well — I unplugged the 12V battery for about 10 seconds, then replugged (essentially a reset for the electronics) and everything was back to normal.
Fingers crossed you won’t have further issues going forward :)

Yay glad you and Rafiki were ok! :) I had a not so dire situation just happen to me where I got to the parking garage for my hotel and there were no available EV chargers but there was a plug I the wall I could use. I *have* my mobile charger BUT I have never used it and there is a zip tie holding it bound up that I cannot break with my hands and I have no scissors or anything to cut it with. So I couldn't plug in. Luckily I could easily make it to the nearby EA, but that was a frustrating realization. :)

I see trip B used 2.8 mi/kw and you increased to 3.9mi/kwh good job driving! Because of this video I am always going to have a backup EVSE in my frunk. Thank you for sharing!

It's so easy ! Remove negative pole of accu 12v and wait 1 minute at least. Reconnect and almost of issues are gone. This action looks like restart of laptop.

You are so fortunate the readings are fairly accurate.
Not so on the Leaf Guess-o-meter.
I made a wrong turn and ended on freeway north with 28 miles on the readout. The next town was 20 miles away. By the time I got to the first exit, where I got off, the readouts were blank, which meant I was almost to turtle mode. By the time I got to an EA charging station I had been on turtle mode for a while. The single Chademo station was unavailable. I had to get towed to another charging station. I forgot to use the GPS to keep from making a wrong turn.
Another time the station where I usually charge was full, so I kept on going and ended up at my destination on turtle mode. Towed again.
There's nothing like going 27 mph in a 40 mph speed zone.
