Can the vitamin C and starch solutions be made ahead and still work as expected when combined? I'm doing three demonstrations throughout the day and would like to mix the solutions once, if possible (except for mixing all for the reaction, of course). Or maybe make the water and starch solution and add the hydrogen peroxide closer to demonstration time?

hi, i have a question about this experiment. it is quite interesting how it works, but if you were to increase the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, when heating the starch and vitamin c solution, what exact temperature should it heat at? I want to conduct this experiment but using a hot plate instead of a microwave however I need to keep the temperature it is heating to constant and I'm not very sure. thanks.

Hey, My iodine (lab grade) turns purple and not blue when I use corn starch or liquid starch detergent. Do you know why it isn't blue ? It is driving me crazy as I need it to be blue for a desmonstration....
